Magical Express & BLT

Normally when we go to Disney we have either gotten a town car or rented a car. But for our November trip, we are considering scaling back and doing Magical Express.

So for Bay Lake Towers (which I imagine means BLT to the Contemporary Resort), what is the "normal" travel time from the airport to the resort?

Less than 1 hour

From our experience I usually average 1 to 1.5 hours from the time I get to the ME area @ MCO until I'm dropped off in front of Contemporary. Usually it seems Poly, GF, and/or WL are stopped at first!

When y'all have used ME to return to the airport for your outgoing flight, how early have you had to catch the bus? The one time we were going to use ME for a DVC stay, we were given a pickup time about 5 hours before our flight. That seemed really ridiculous to us. Travel time to the airport is no more than an hour, and recommended check-in time with the airlines is 2 hours... so why the extra 2 hours?

Our ME pickup time has always been about 3 hours before our flight. We're doing it again on Sunday, and I will post back then.

Our pick up time for ME has always been 3 hours prior to flight. Works really well for us.

Thanks for the feedback of 3 hours... perhaps there was an error when we were given the really early pickup time??? If there's only a 3 hour timeframe, I think we will pass on the rental car for our next trip and give ME another try. I'm weary of making the drive down and really didn't want to spend the extra $ for a rental car this time!

I agree with PPs that it usually is about 3 hours if you are on a domestic flight. I think once we had a little longer than that because we weren't the first pickup, but it wasn't bad. I've read it is usually 4 for an international flight. I've never heard of a 5 hours timeframe and have to wonder if an error was made...

We always use ME when onsite. Our pick up time has always been 3 hours prior to your flight departure. Often times the bus stops at another resort so they account for the time that it takes to load up the additional passengers. On our last trip we were at AKV we stopped at Pop Century where there were probably 100 people waiting for the bus. Needless to say it took a while to load the luggage and check their ME vouchers. When we stay at BLT the bus usually goes to Poly, Grand Floridian and WL.

Last trip we took ME to BLT and it took ~ one hour. We stopped at GF, Poly and possibly WL first but the stops all went by pretty quickly. It's definitely quicker than waiting for checked bags and then grabbing a rental car at the airport.

Got ME back from BLT for an international flight, went perfectly was very relaxing.
