Magical Express as a backup to OKW?

We're planning to fly to Orlando this Saturday (March 23) from Denver. DD 20 is flying from Chicago to meet us there. We are scheduled to arrive at MCO within an hour of each other. Snow is now forecast for Denver Saturday, and although i don't think it will be a big deal, there is a chance we may not get to the airport until hours after my daughter does.

Is it too late to make her a reservation on DME so if we end up being significantly delayed she can at least get to OKW rather than hanging around the airport? I don't want to keep a DME spot from someone else, but she may legitimately need the ride. Are DME reservations that casual that it is ok to make one as a "back-up"? We'd let the DME rep know we were canceling the reservation if it came to that. I couldn't find this information on the DME FAQ pages, so I figured someone on Disboards would know.

Since the buses from MCO to the resorts are basically sent as filled, no "assigned bus" per se, like the return trip back to MCO, I don't think there is any problem booking a back up ME reservation from MCO to the resort. Just give them a call.

Like the PP said, give them a call. They will not be able to send a packet in time but just make sure she has the reservation number. They will have it in their system as well at the ME desk in Orlando Airport.

Thanks...I'm trying not to be an alarmist, but I just don't want to have to worry any more than necessary if we are not going to connect at the airport in a reasonable amount of time.

I forgot to make the resv one trip and they still accommodated us so I think you will be fine adding it at this point.

My DH surprised me in Disney a couple of years ago, he didn't have ME reservations because he wasn't on my hotel reservations. So what he did was go to the ME counter and told them he needed to get to AK without hotel reservation he had pay 20.00 and they put him on Mears, which turned out to be the ME bus.

So, if you end up being late she can just go to the counter give your hotel reservation number and get the bus then.

I think she can walk up to the counter and give them her reservation number and be accommodated. I might be mistaken, but I seem to remember that it is possible to make day of reservations right there. Obviously, she would need to collect her own checked bags, but if she has the reservation number, she could at least get to the hotel. If you do it this way, you can find out if you ARE able to make it to MCO without her having to make a reservation with DME.

I would call MS and have the ME request added to the reservation. She will have to get her own luggage and take it on the bus. They say that you can give the ME desk your claim checks and they will pull the luggage but there have been a couple of reports of them not finding the luggage.

I would also follow up directly with ME in a couple of days to verify that MS did their job correctly. For our next vacation MS confirmed our ME reservation a day latter than our actual arrival date. I called ME and they verified that they had the correct date and that MS was wrong.

I think she can walk up to the counter and give them her reservation number and be accommodated.

If I remember correctly, this is no longer possible without having to pay the going rate for Mears---this was a concession to the private towncar and taxi services, I think.

I called MS and explained the sitatuation and they said the wisest thing to do was make her a Magical Express reservation, so I did. She won't have any checked baggage. I asked if we should go by the ME desk and let them know she's cancelling if we're able to get there ourselves-the MS rep said I could, but it wasn't necessary. I will, anyway.

MY DH will be armed with her reservation details, so if we are REALLY late she can even check in at OKW (she's 20) and at least enjoy the resort or ride the buses to DTD while she's waiting for us!
