Received our luggage tags today and I was surprised it had Art of Animation as HS in the pink Mickey head. I thought it was AK area resort. Doesn’t matter but just checking to make sure our luggage doesn’t get misplaced. Anyone went recently to Art of Animation that had this on their tags?

I'm at Pop and have a bright pink Mickey head on my tags. I'll know after next week if my bags make it or not.

Reporting back that the bright pink HS Mickey head tagged ME bags arrived with no issues to our room at Pop. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

If those weren't official DME tags, that's a risky move. Luggage with the official label are pulled on the tarmac, before any bags are sent into the carousel. All remaining luggage is placed on the mechanism that transports it to baggage claim. Ultimately an airline employee pulls all remaining unclaimed luggage. Usually it goes in a cage or office.

I stayed at Pop early this month and had HS on my DME tags (instead of the old AK) and they worked fine. (I think the Mickey heads were pink.)

I wondered if Pop had been recategorized as "HS" area instead of "AK" area because of the Skyliner?

Yep. I was just there 2 weeks ago and we had the hot pink tags. It all went fine, but like you, it threw me off.

I'm not sure why Pop/AOA were ever called AK area resorts, as they're much closer to DHS anyway. Even Epcot is closer than AK.

Huh? Why would ME send unofficial tags?

By the way, even if it did get through and end up in the luggage office, the Bags Inc employees go around and collect the miss-routed bags and still get them to Disney. I'm sure it adds time though

I'm sure some logistics genius came up with the groupings in some way that will never make sense to those of us non-logistic types, LOL
And now, someone new has some in to redo the groupings. I suspect these aren't the only resorts to get regrouped.
