Magical Express and the Ship?

If I take the magical express when I disembark from a Disney ship, do they handle my luggage for me to the airport and onto my flight, or do I still have to find my luggage, and get it to bus myself?

DME only serves WDW resorts, not the cruise line.

DCL does provide transfers for a cost and if you are on a participating airline you can check your bags and get your boarding passes on the ship. I'm not all that familiar with the ins and outs of the on-board check-in process, however.
