Looking for some opinions. We land on 11/30 at 9pm at Orlando airport and staying at AKL. The luggage delivery to our room is available, but given the 3 hour window, would you get your luggage yourselves or risk getting a knock on the door at midnight? Anyone have any experience with this late hour?

I would either pack everything I need for that night & the next day in my carry on & have them hold my luggage until the next day or I would get it myself & take it to ME. It is 3 hours after you check in, not 3 hours after you land.

I'm landing at 9:17. My plan is to get the luggage myself.

I think you can request of bell services that they hold the luggage until the next day. I'm not going to bother.

We landed at 935pm last year, got to the GF about 1045, went for a walk around the resort, by the time we got back (well before midnight) our bags were in our room.

We arrive at 8:45 next week...I'm letting ME grab my bags. I have no problem with a late knock on my door to bring my bags if it saves me picking them up and dragging them around the airport, the bus and the resort.

In April, our flight arrived at 5 pm. By 9 pm, we still did not have our bags so I called the front desk. She was able to track our bags and see they were en route to the hotel but it could be another hour. We needed to get the baby to sleep so she suggested a "silent call" where she could leave us a message that the bags were there without the phone ringing and we could either go down and get then or meet the bellman at the door (which is what we did). Another option was to get them in the morning but that was not what we wanted to do! You also are able to grab your own bags at baggage claim in MCO and have the driver load them onto the bus (tip him, please). That's definitely what I'd do arriving at your time. Just don't put the ME tags on your luggage.

I would leave the tags off and get them myself. That's what I plan to do in Jan with an 8pm arrival time. Just want to unpack and get settled.

Arriving that late you should get your own bags.

I agree. Definitely get your own bags. You might not get it before midnight. The past two trips my luggage took SIX HOURS to arrive to my room. Yes, six whole hours! The last time it may have even been about 7 hours!

Luggage delivery can take 3-4 hours after check-in. If your plane lands at 9, you can reasonably expect to arrive at the resort and checking in around 10:30pm. That means luggage can be expected around 1:30am-2:30am. I'd say pick it up yourself and don't use the yellow DME tags, or request luggage be held and delivered the next morning if you'll have everything you need in your carry on bag.

This. :thumbsup2

I would pack whatever I needed for the first night in my carry-on and let DME handle my checked luggage. I wouldn't waste time at the airport waiting for my checked luggage if I didn't have to. Tell the front desk when you check in that you want your luggage held, and then put the Privacy Please tab in your door. Go to bed. Call down when you want your bags the next morning.

I would recommend getting your own bags as well. My flight in September was suppose to arrive at 6:30pm so we put the tags on our bags, however it got delayed, then we got rerouted in flight for weather which added another hour, so instead of landing at 6:30, it was 8:30pm. We didn't get our bags delivered until after midnight. If I knew I was flying in after 9pm, I wouldn't take the chance, I would get my own bags.

Wow! I never knew of anyone having to wait five or more hours....but I guess it happens. I would do as other's suggested, pack what you need for the night...have Bell Services hold till morning. I don't think it's any big deal to go get it in the morning....but if you do....then just get it yourself and haul it to the ME bus. Happy Travels.

With a 5 pm landing time, I'm guessing you got to your hotel about 6:30, which means that 9 pm would've been a bit early to get your bags since you're supposed to get them 3-4 hours after you check in, not after you land.

Right, I wasn't upset ... I just needed to put the baby to sleep and wanted to see what my options were. I had pjs, diapers, sound machine etc in our carry on bag.
