Hi~

I tried to do a search, but it was not working.

I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with check out with Magical Express if using a participating airline. Late to airport, lost luggage, etc..

Thanks in advance.

I love, love, love the resort check-in feature on DME when using participating airlines. We have bell services take our bags down to the front desk, then check luggage and check-in for the flight (get boarding card, etc), and then off to Epcot or wherever for a little while, assuming an afternoon flight. Even when we have hopped on DME right from the desk, we did not have any trouble with our bags at all.

We have used DME three times already ourselves, and many more times vicariously thru others.

The only troubles we have had was getting wheelchair-accessible buses for the pick-up on the return to the airport. DS is wheelchair-bound, so we really need a lift-equipped bus. Apparently, only about a third of the buses are equipped with lifts, and somehow the wheelchair note on our ressie either disappeared or was not noticed. In any case, they still managed to take care of us, getting us to the airport in plenty of time.

Probably more than one party has had such issues, especially back when DME began (but hundreds or thousands more had NO such problems, and DME is almost a year old!)
Yes, especially back then some people were late getting to the airport and missed their flights - most likely because they decided three hours in advance was too long and chose to catch a later bus. Yes, on occasion, the bus didn't show up - but a quick discussion with Bell Services or the Manager on Duty resulted in Disney providing (aka paying for) that party's cab fare back to the airport. DME will now allow you to board an earlier bus IF you prearrange it, but not a later/closer to takeoff bus, to prevent Guests from missing flights and blaming DME.
As for lost luggage, last year alone the airlines misdirected over three million pieces of luggage, and completely and permanently LOST 200,000 of those bags. I haven't heard of DME losing anybody's luggage on the trip home; and in fact on the way TO Disney, there's no solid proof any such lost bags are the fault of DME. In fact, that service takes responsibility for claiming and delivering any misdirected luggage on its arrival in Orlando - thereby freeing the Guest to head off to their Resort instead of hanging around the airport, filling out forms and waaaaaittttttinnnnnnnng for the bag or bags to show up.

At least one poster couldn't find their luggage when they got back to their home airport. It turned out their luggage was put on an earlier flight, DME got the luggage to MCO early, and their luggage was in their airlines unclaimed luggage office.

Remember luggage does not have to be on the same plane as the passenger and airline might move the luggage out on an earlier flight.
