We are thinking of booking off Orbitz for the airfare for our Disney trip because of the Price Assurance they offer. If I do this, vs. booking with the travel agent, can I still use Magical Express? Or do I have to book my flight with the rest of the Disney package?

Has anyone used Orbitz before? I ahve been watching air the last two weeks, and it has varied up to $125 per ticket....Ughh.. That is a good chunk of change for a group of 10 people!

Thanks~

I booked a package including ME without air on the Disney website. The site just said to return to enter flight information as soon as we knew. I haven't done it yet though!

I'm one of those people that will only book directly through the airline....I refuse to use Orbitz, Expedia or Travelocity. They own that reservation and if something goes wrong with it, they don't much care. If you book with the airlines, at least there's someone to talk to if there is an issue.
But, others use these companies all the time.
You can book DME yourself..you do not need to book a Disney pkg.

We never book air with a travel agent/disney and always us ME. Just call or log into your reservation and give them your flight information.

Also, I agree with goofy4tink, book the air directly with the carrier. That way if something changes you can talk directly to the airline. For example, Jetblue cancelled our return flight and gave us one 6 hours earlier. That didn't work for us so we ended up with a full refund of that flight and were able to get a flight on another airline that worked for us. If we booked with orbitz we probably would not have been able to negotiate that refund.

I would buy directly with the airline. If anything goes wrong you at least can talk to someone in person.
If price assurance is what you are interested in then I would book with SWA or Airtran. If the flight price drops with either one of these airlines you can rebook without paying a rebooking fee and get a refund in the form of a travel vouchure that has to be used within one year of the orginal booked ticket. Not this won't automatically happen you have to be watching your flight prices and when the price falls you will have to act upon the rebooking.

here is the number to the DME

(407) WDW-MAGIC or (407) 939-6244

Agree with others to book DIRECTLY with the airline!!!

As long as you are staying on-site you are eligible to use ME. They don't care how you get to the airport ... someone could drop you off and they'd still take you from the airport to your hotel.

You should let the WDW resort reservation people know that you wish to use ME and then the flight info. If for some reason, two weeks out, you are in doubt about it, then call ME directly.

We have NEVER booked airfare through Disney.

Thanks everyone! I'll start pricing and check out SWA and TranAir. I'm not sure what Minneapolis to Orlando flights will be, but typically it seems to be Sun Country or Delta.
