We just returned from a magical trip yesterday and had the best time we have ever had at the World. On our last park day (May 30th), the kids wanted to get up early so they could ride up front in the monorail. We drove from our resort (ASM) to TTC. When we arrived, we were on the first monorail of the day, so no one was up front. The kids loved riding up front with the driver. We get off the monorail at the Magic Kingdom to spend our last day. We were there about 7:45ish and were just going to take pictures and prepare our last day rides, etc. Well my daughter took off running to the ticket gate and we were all running right with her. A wonderful cast member names Ida, came up to us to ask if we were late for a breakfast ressie, and we told her no that we were just there really early. She asked if we had our tickets and she took them and invited us in to sit on the bench under the train station. About 15 minutes later she came back out and had an autograph book for our kids and a certificate with our names stating we would be the first family and would be opening the park with Mickey. When she said that my wife broke down in tears. We have seen the opening show, but never knew how they picked the family. We were escorted to one of the Main Street cars and given a tour of the park, pictures in front of an empty castle, and driven to Toon Town so the kids could explore Mickey and Minnie's house alone!!! We spent time talking with the driver of the car and a character handler came and got the autograph books. She then returned with an autograph book full of signatures from the characters. About that time, my daughter looked through the window of Mickey's house and saw Chip and Dale. Then, Mickey, Chip, Dale, Pluto, Jasmine, Aladdin, Snow White, Mary Poppins, White Rabbit, Donald Duck, and Alice all came out the greet the kids for a private photo session. It was awesome, my son could not speak (I believe he was in shock). Dear wife was sobbing at this point (May 30th was our 11 year anniversary) and told me that was the best present she could ever get. We boarded the train with the characters to drive to Main Street to open the park. We have wonderful photopass pictures and I took the best picture of my two kids walking hand in hand with Mickey out of the train station. Now, for the help part. If anyone was there and videoing that morning, could you contact me. We would love to get a video if possible. Needless to say, after two trips during "Year of a Million Dreams" with no Wishes, this was the one that came out of the blue and has made a lifetime of memories for our family. Once we get our pictures downloaded, I am going to post some. The next step is planning our next trip. All the kids could talk about on the drive home was when are we going back. My wife even kept a could a pieces of the huge "pixie dust" as a momento. What made the day even better was during Spectromagic and Alice and Mary Poppins saw us in the crowd and came up to us again. What a wonderful ending to a perfect trip.
