MAGICal Christmas 2008 - December 20, 2008

Aren't they usually a page out of the cruise document book - like at the end? - Are they missing? :scared1:

Do you mean me asking about my Magical Express transfers? If so, I'm talking about the ones for going from MCO to WDW before our cruise, not something we need for the cruise. If the question wasn't directed at my comment, then never mind. ;)

Cataworm - way to go on the upgrade! How funny that Lisa got your old room!

So much to do so little time - YEAH!

I did get the card holders on Disney Shopping - thanks for the link - the deal was too good to pass up - of course I had to buy many other things as well!

I have most of my Christmas shopping done - now hopefully all will be delivered on time!

I still have to finish the F/E and SS stuff.

As for gifts for the crew - last year we brought silly stuff from Oriental Trading and let the staff in the kids clubs pick what they liked etc. This year I am doing Calanders that are magnetic and a picture frame and will probably put candy in a bag with these as well.

No cruise/Disney World documents yet - but my TA usually delivers with Disney stuff for the kids - she is great!

Hope all have a good day!

I am getting excited. Documents came! Online checking completed! Started printing all of our info and organizing.

Well, I gave up today on finding fabric that I like to make a FE. I found a huge mitten shaped stocking at Jo Ann Fabrics and will adapt that. It is soooo cute! I know that I couldn't do better, especially without a sewing machine. We haven't gotten our documents yet either but I'm sure they will arrive soon! Have a good Wednesday!!!!!!!!

Lisa Marie :santa:

We finally got our travel documents about an hour ago. I was sound asleep (I worked last night) and I heard the doorbell ring. I JUMPED out of bed like the house was on fire and threw open the door. I scared the poor UPS man to death.:scared:

I also just ordered Christmas gift baskets for the kids from Shirley at the Perfect Gift. She is making them Christmas/Disney themed for me and they sound great!!! The kids really loved entering the stateroom and seeing these three big gift baskets waiting for them on our last cruise. The price wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.:confused3

We are still all hacking and coughing here, unfortunately. I hate anything respiratory because it always lingers. We still have two weeks to get rid of it, Thank God!!!:worship:

Now if I could just DH to be proactive and print out our magnetic door signs and our family "business cards", I will be happy. He has them made, he just needs to print them.

Shannon

Forgot to ask - What is the best transportation from MCO to the Radison?

That's another thing that I need to get accomplished. I need to call Shirley too. We've done gift baskets on several of our previous cruises and the girls just LOVE them.

Ok, so a good piece of information that I found on the Port Authority of the Cayman Islands - looks like the Magic is supposed to be arriving at 8am.

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is having a good week. I'm in the final stretch for my class before taking a nice long break. I finish on monday and then will have a break from classes until January 6th. I decided not to start a new class right away I am so ready for a break. We are going to start packing this weekend. We use our garage as a room and so we are just going to pack everything in there and then it will be ready to load into the car.

How do you know if you paid a fuel surcharge or not? I was looking on my confirmation for any mention of it but the total cost is not broken down.

If you booked and made your initial deposit on this cruise anytime between 5/28/08 and 11/30/08 you paid the fuel surcharge.

Thanks for the answer. I figured we did but couldn't see it listed anywhere. Ok now if gas prices will hold we will have a nice Christmas gift from DCL.

I wasn't sure if we paid the surcharge or not (even though we booked the very 1st day!), but we just got our documents today and on the 7th page, it breaks down your cruise fair and lists fuel surcharge as one of the lines. Now if only we could get a credit for those gov't fees and taxes!!

I totally forgot about gift baskets from Shirley. I have never done one, but thought this would be the time to do it. I'll have to think about what to put in it. Shannon, (or anybody else) what kinds of things are going into your basket?

In exactly 2 weeks from today, we will be on our plane down to Orlando!:yay: It doesn't get much better than that!

Hope everyone has a good night.

I usually just call Shirley and her staff (I've never actually talked to Shirley, I usually end up talking to one of her staff) and I just talk to them about what I'm looking for. I'll give them my girls' fave characters, and things that they liked in the past (princess tattoos, etc). I usually have her put in just a couple of their fave snacks (since there's so much food onboard, but they love snacks for the movies). I also have them put it all in a sand bucket (keeps me from lugging sand toys and they have something to play with on CC). They are REALLY, REALLY good about putting appropriate things depending on the age of the child.

Here's a pic to one that we did a few years ago.

Amy, thanks for showing the picture and explaining the process! It makes me want to do it even more now! The boys will love it. If anybody else has a picture they would like to share or any other ideas, please tell!

I'm glad to see so many reports of documents arriving. Who all is still waiting on theirs?

The next couple of days at work are slammin' busy, but Friday afternoon we're heading to St. George Island to spend the weekend at the beach. My SIL/BIL have rented a house for several days so we're looking forward to a visit and some family time there. Then next week Zachary has his school play, and once that is over, then it will be the big push for packing and going. I have a feeling that these next 15 days will zoom by. Then I hope the seven on the ship are slow slow slow.

Do you guys ever get the feeling on vacation that each day is really multiple days? Like maybe one evening you're thinking about something you did that seems like several days ago but it was really that morning? I love that sense of not knowing what time it is on vacation.

Here is a picture of Matt and his basket from Shirley. We went with the Treasure Chest Box and it was from Captain Jack Sparo. Matt thought it was very cool. I think I had her put flippers in there so I didn't need to drag his with. We found that the kids did not each much of the food. I think there was also a pirate hat and an eye patch. The picture also shows the bag we got through Disney. I was disappointed in the quality of that. It ended up ripping before the cruise was over. Disney did replace it, but I still get worried using it. The Memories box is on the other side. I loved this. It was a box you can order through Disney and we ended up putting things from the cruise, includeing all of the Navigators. I have been pulling it out frequently going through the "memories".

Not sure if I will order baskets this year or not. . . I would love to order each room in our party . . . but that would just get too expensive. I have already ordered Mickey t-shirts for everyone . . . still need to come up with something creative to put on the back.

I received our t-shirts form CafePress. I guess I am very disappointed. The Plus size shirts are very short. I would never be able to wear it. . . . I also thought they were v neck, but mine came scoop neck. The one I bought for Kat was very cute . . .bue even hers was none to small. I'm going to try and return mine. I was really hoping to wear it . . . oh well.

Have a great day everyone . . .

Thanks for the picture...I think I will try to limit the amount of food she puts in our basket...I don't see them eating too much of it either. Although if chocolate is in there, that is the 1st thing Connor will be getting into!

We are trying to decide what kind of shirts to wear the 1st day. We have NE Patriots santa hats for us and our friends, but haven't done any planning on the shirts. That will be the project this weekend.

Well, off to the bus stop and then a call to Shirley. Thanks for the help on the baskets!

Deanna

Love the pics of the baskets! We got one of the memory boxes as a gift on our first cruise because we booked as part of a "group" that our TA arranged. We absolutely loved it and it was perfect for keeping our first-cruise memories in. We get it out and go through it, too.

hinsok - Sorry the Cafe Press shirts didn't work out for you. I skipped ordering the women's sized shirt for me and just got the regular men's sized t-shirt. I like that kind of shirt anyway and then I didn't have to worry about the too-short thing. At least there is time to return them.

Dec. 4th - Schedule haircuts so there is time for the just-cut-look to soften.

Check, check, and (oops, DH still needs to get his done). I know he has enough money because I made sure he had his "hair cut money" in his wallet this week.

I'm wondering what the Castaway Club gifts will be - anyone heard or read recently? When we sailed in April, we got two water bottles (which we use) and a notebook/pen that I carry in my purse and have nearly used up, and the bag like the one in hinsok's picture.

Have a great day everyone -- two weeks from today we'll be doing the final packing up and getting the boys' notes ready to tell them!
