MAGICal Christmas 2008 - December 20, 2008

In other news, I took my girls to see the Hannah Montana 3D movie today. They seemed to really like it. Some of the 3D effects were really neat.:thumbsup2

Well I guess I will go back to watching the Super Bowl with dh.

Angie

We also went to see Hannah today. I thought it was put together very well. Gosh, that Kenny Ortega is one rich man. My 4 year old said it wasn't as good as the real concert (can you say spoiled?!?) but my 3 year old didn't go to the concert so she loved this.

Did you see the preview for Journey to the Center of the Earth? I looks like it's going to be such a cool movie!!!

The first thing I did was come home and tell dh about the Journey to the Center of the Earth movie. I thought it looked awesome. We will definately be seeing that this summer.

Happy Superbowl Sunday everyone!!

I don't know who everyone was rooting for, but I am always cheering for the underdog, so I am glad that Eli Manning got his chance! DH said that if Tom Brady had won he would be one of only 3 quarterbacks who have won 4 superbowls! I was kind of surprised that Eli Mannings's parents weren't there, though, because they are usually at all their boys games and to miss the SUPERBOWL!!!???? At least his big brothers were there. There must have been a pretty good reason for them to miss THIS game.

How did everyone like the commercials? (which, truth be told, is the REAL reason I watch the superbowl:lmao: ) Budweiser ALWAYS has the best commercial, I think. They must put some serious money into that game.

Have a good night everyone!
Shannon

I am a Steeler fan by birth - but I was very happy to see Eli Manning win. It was an incredible game!!!!! Love the commercials, especially the Coke commercial with Charlie Brown - too funny.

Another Hannah Montana 3-D mom checking in.
Not only did we see the movie this weekend, we went to a Jonas Brothers concert. I can't believe I forgot my earplugs... I knew better; the HM concert was not that long ago, but I swear the decibel level was even worse at the JB concert.
I don't mind the loud music, it's the high pitched screaming... Yikes! :scared1:

The superbowl is usually more about the party than the game for me, but I really watched and got into the game yesterday. Wow!
How about Peyton and Eli as back to back superbowl winners and MVP's? I'm guessing that's one excited family today.

Do the superbowl winners still head to Disney? :earsboy: :earsboy:

Shannon & Morgan,
Any progress on the fish extender project? I'll be interested to see what you come up with.

Yup---the I'm going to Disney world commercial was on all day today. I saw it on the Disney channel at least 4 times.

Besides the screaming girls, how did the Jonas Bros full concert compare to their opening act for Hannah? I can't imagine them doing much more than they did at HM. I think they're great though. Who opened for them?

I wondered about the JB's having enough material, but they were onstage for an hour and a half and there were songs my girls would have liked to hear that they didn't perform. They debuted some new songs as well. CD coming soon no doubt.

Opening act was Rooney. Kind of a retro surfer rock I'd say. I guess they've been around the LA/OC club scene for awhile.
I had never heard of them. :rolleyes1
Lots of screaming for them as well.

My girls LOVED the show!

Watching those young things up there just made me feel old. :rotfl:

DH and I saw Garth Brooks a week or so ago. For his encore he did a medley of songs written by folks he admired... James Taylor, Billy Joel, Jim Croce, Bob Seger, etc.
Dating myself here, but Garth and his idols are more my speed. ;)

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone :flower3:

I know how you feel. I saw Tom Petty during the halftime show yesterday and I was like----I LOVE Tom Petty!!! They keep playing commercials on the radio for his concert here in July, I've seen him before and I'd love to see him again. He's such a far leap from Hannah Montana though. :lmao:

OK, I'm late coming into this party (though we've had the resie for a while). Right now I can't retrieve the resie from the DCL site to find my stateroom #, but we're Dee (41 at cruise time) and DS Keith (will be 12). We're in Cat 9 someplace on Deck 2.

In my copious spare time ( :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: ) I'll try to get through the messages you've posted so far, but if anyone is kind enough to fill me in on any plans you already made, I'd appreciate it. For the 2006 10-night Christmas cruise, we had T-shirts and stuff that people could buy off my CafePress store (at cost, I don't mark up). I'm happy to do it again. The merchandise is still up there, if anyone wants to take a look. (http://www.cafepress.com/deesfunstuff) We left the front blank so people can iron on a mickey logo we designed -- CafePress does not allow copy-righted images.

Also, I organized 1 of 2 DIS Palo brunches for the group in the Palo private room. Let me know if there's need / interest. As I said, I haven't gone through the thread yet so I'm not trying to step on anybody's toes, I'm just excited :thumbsup2

OK, I'm done for now.

:welcome: DEE!!!

We're glad that you joined us!! The only plans that we've "made" so far are a possible ornament exchange, and then maybe "goodies" for people's "fish extenders" and stockings.

Your Cafepress store reminds me a lot of what Diana (DianaLyn) set up for our DVC member cruise. We had a little "artwork" contest and voted on the winner. Then, she set it up and we could all order from Cafepress. It worked out really well!!

And, I love the idea of a Palo Brunch day!! And, I know that on our DVC member cruise, Cindy (cgcw) helped to coordinate our dining requests, so that all the DISers were on the same rotation, in the same section of the restaurants, and it worked out really well.

Thanks Amy, for the warm welcome! Your girls are ADORABLE!

We'd love to sit with other DISers. That's always fun, esp. if they have kids my son's age. We're night owls, so we have 2nd seating (or will as soon as I fix that particular DCL blunder! :rolleyes1 ). I'm all for an ornament exchange! In 06 we all tried to bring an ornament that represented our state in some way, though some people really stretched that definition :rotfl2: :rotfl2: We had loads of fun with that!

Dee and Keith - welcome! I'm Cindy D., married to Gary, mom to Nathan (12) and Zachary (11) at the time of the trip, so my guys are right at the same age as yours! We have early seating but I'd love to be able to get the boys to meet when we board. I can't "introduce" them ahead of time because as of now, they STILL don't know we're going!!!!!!!!

As for plans, I know we've talked about doing some fish-extender exchanges, and I'm sure we'll have a boarding-day-meet. We're not planning to do Palo (and gosh, did y'all read where Palo has gone up to $15?) but we're up for other meets / activities on board.

Welcome Dee and Keith!!!!:woohoo:

I am Shannon and along with DH Rick, we have Morgan(DD15), Mitchell(DS12), and oops! baby Melissa:cutie: (DD4). We live in the very south of Texas and this will be our second Disney cruise. We are SOOOOO excited to be cruising at Christmas!:santa:

Mitchell has already started to e-mail two other boys his age that will be sailing with us and they are really getting to know each other. If Keith would be interested, let me know!

I love all the ideas we have started to put into motion and you can count us in for any and all activities.:thumbsup2 You sound like just the right person to coordinate all said plans/activities, Dee! Did I just offer your services?!?:rolleyes1 I hope you don't mind, but you sound PERFECT for the job! I am NOT what you call a party/event planner/organizer, but I sure like to attend and party!!:cool1: WE would LOVE an ornament exchange, secret santa and PALO's!

Well, it's finally sunny and 97 degrees!! I am in heaven! Thank God the cold weather is gone!:worship: Now I will venture outside instead of having all the blinds closed and the heater on.:sad1:

Again, welcome Dee and Keith! Glad to add you to the family!
Shannon

Welcome Dee and Keith! I'm Lissa and will be traveling with my mom Nancy and my brother Matt. All adults. Love your idea of a Palo brunch. We were unable to eat there on our first cruise and are determined to at least get to do brunch on this one.
Booked our hotel today. After looking at all the options we decided on country inn and suites. It seemed to be the closets to the port and we were able to get a room big enough for all of us to have our own space. This is important since we are going to be spending the next seven days in close company.
The temp up here is fickle today it was 70 tomorrow it is going to be 45. Ughhh were all going to be sick. Hope everyone is well and having a good week.

Lissa

Welcome Dee and family!1

I'm Diana, DH is Bruce the Shark and Emma (5) and Julia (4) are the princess: princess: I was the shopkeeper for the SSMC06 Cafepress store. I notice your group didn't prompt you to add the thong to your offerings. :lmao: www.cafepress.com/ssmc06

It was low 80s here today and beautiful. Absolute perfect day. I hope the weather holds for our weekend! :cool1:

Welcome Dee and Keith!
I am Angie-traveling with dh, dd (10) and dd (7). We live in Pennsylvania and can't wait for this cruise. My brother, SIL, and nephew are going as well. They haven't joined the board yet but I keep telling them to.
You will love this board. It is great getting to know everyone before we sail away.:)

Angie

Thanks everyone for the welcomes! This is why I love the DIS so much! I am happy to take on SOME planning (this will be my 7th cruise), but not, as Shannon so generously offered, all of it :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: (though it was a REALLY nice try! :worship: )

I think Keith would love to get to know some of the kids before the cruise. For 06, we had a dedicated kids thread, which was kinda cool. For some reason, Keith really enjoys using all the animation in his posts :confused3. Wouldn't have anything to do with his mom's habits, would it? :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

A thong??? Wow! I'm not sure I even knew it was an option! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: If there's a will, I will offer it. Just remember, I get the sales reports! :scared1:

I can't remember the last time we got over 41 here. Can I come live with one of you who are in the 70+? Though I have to say, 97 is way above my comfort level, unless I'm in WDW. In which case nothing bothers me!

what a fun cruise this will be for you guys.

I tried getting on a while back and nothing was available.

Besides, the $$'s for a solo was ridiculous.

Just a small request.

LEAVE THE SHIP IN ONE PIECE FOR WHEN I BOARD on the 27th. :lmao: :lmao:

Edited to add:
OOPS, hey - I'll be there with you on the 10th. how could I forget?

Diana, Bruce, Emma, & Julia,
I just realized you are leaving in a day for your cruise on the Wonder  .
Have a great time. I can't wait to hear all about it.
Angie
