MY SON WILL TURN 6 ON OUR FIRST TRIP TO DISNEY ANY SUGESTION ON A CHARACTER DINING EXPERIENCE FOR HIS BIRTHDAY. DO ANY OF THEM DO ANYTHING SPECIAL FOR BIRTHDAYS? ANYONE WHO MAY HAVE CELEBRATED A BIRTHDAY AT DISNEY I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY SUGGESTIONS OR EXPERIENCES YOU MAY HAVE HAD :wave2:

Hi! We love Chef Mickey's for a child's birthday. They make the child feel very special.....

We celebrated our son's 5th birthday last Oct at Chef Mickey's. They gave him a special placemat and he got a cupcake with a candle for his birthday. You can call ahead of time and order a cake if you want, but there are so many desserts there I did not think we needed one. I think that all of the character meals do the cupcake and placemat.

I am not sure if it is all parks, but I know in the Magic Kingdom if you go to Guest Relations on the left right after you go under the train station they will give him a "Today is my birthday" button. My son also got a special phone call (in Guest Relations) I think it was from Mickey, but it may have been Goofy. :)

Crystal Palace is a great one for b-days, too. Every park has b-day pins.

It's hard to go wrong unless you go to Garden Grill. We went May 28, '05, and they said they weren't supposed to celebrate b-days at that restaurant, because they'd had customer complaints. My dd got a card off-handedly dumped at the table by the server and didn't get the special dessert. When we talked to a mgr. about it, she confirmed that her boss had made that decree. She was very nice, and gave us her e-mail so she could take care of us next time we went, but after that, none of our kids are willing to go back. That had been our fave, too. We'd had wonderful b-days there, but now all I can say is go to any other character meal.

I'd suggest Chef Mickey's as the perfect place to celebrate such an occasion. I think it epitomizes the whole 'Disney' idea, especially for the first visit to Disney ever. And for a six year old too.

Depends on who his favorite characters are. My dd turned 6 with a birthday dinner at Crystal Palace back in '99. She got a card signed by Pooh and his buddies, a cupcake with a candle and some Mickey confetti on the table. The servers got together and sang her a special birthday song.
If he likes Mickey the best, then I would book Chef Mickeys for either breakfast or dinner. Be sure to mention when you make the ADR that he is having a birthday, and then mention it again at the podium when you check in.
Get him a birthday button when you enter the park...he'll get lost of 'Happy Birthdays' from CMs and other guests, making him feel very special.
