Magical Beginnings

We will be down at Disney next week and want to take a look at DVC while we are there but I am curious as to how Magical Beginnings is handled when you get a use year later then the month your signing.

Say we get a September use year when we are there next month, do the Magical Beginnings points come from 2003 since this years points have not been assigned or do you actually get 2002 points since you have not reached your use year yet? Does Disney sell use years in the future or will you always have to pick/be assigned a use year that has passed from the date of purchase.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are buying for the first time they try to give you a use year month from a previous month of the year. I don't know if that makes sense. But if you buy in July they will likely try to get you a use year somewhere between December and June. If you buy a December use year they still give you the points from the previous year. My sister and her husband bought May of 02 and they were given a December use year with all of 2001's points.

You wouldn't be able to use MB for a Sept use year bought now if you are a new DVC member though you might be able to still get the points and use them or rent them yourself. The use year needs to be within 6 months of when you purchase. I think that puts February as he earliest you can purchasenow and use MB, I don't think you would be able to swing a December use year with MB.

When we bought we started the process in late April (last year), closed at BCV July 1, and have a February use year. We did not have a Magical Beginnings option so we had full use of our first year's points from the start. We found plenty of ways to use them.

dean is right just purchased last week they are using just febuary use months right now . we used magical begginningsand sold back uor feb points. i'm not sure if you can ask for a different use month but if their a close to selling out as they say feb might be all thats left. good luck

I purchased in March 03 with a June 03 use year and used MB for the 02 points I received and will be using the June 03 points in a few weeks.

Thanks for all the replies. I will see what happens next week when we are there. I talked with a guide last week and he said they should still have availability at BWV and that is where I am hoping to purchase.

We bought in Feb 03 and got an Aug 02 use year. They took the points from 2002.

To Deans point, Feb to Aug is exactly 6 months so I don't know if I just got lucky but it can't hurt to ask!

Was that an add-on? They are more flexible with add-ons. For new owners, they usually go by the 100% banking deadline. For existing owners, they could use the 50% or 25% banking deadline.
