Alrighty now! Can ya tell from all my posts that we're wanting to add on???

What is the minimum point purchase at VB &/or HH for Magical Beginnings? Our guide is out of the office until Friday and I'm dying to know! We're considering adding 50 points at each so we could have home resort status at both and just borrow/bank to get the points we need. (Every other year at one or the other)--That's the plan as of 8pm 1/30/02--could change by 9pm! Anyway....if the minimum is 100points for the MB, this wouldn't work, would it?

Hoosiergirl - you are so funny. Your posts remind me so much of myself. I think I am driving my hubby crazy with all my add-on talk. Answering your question, I do believe to take advantage of MB you have to add-on 100 points. Disney will finance an add-on of 50 points but you need the 100 to use MB. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Actually, I was thinking about doing exactly what you are considering. Purchasing a 50 point add-on at BCV and having the 150 points every three years to use for 5 nights in a one bedroom off-season. Unfortunately, today at work, the rumor mill was working overtime that we are having major lay-offs tomorrow. I hope not, I don't want to see anybody lose their job (including myself). Anyway, I think we'll put a hold on any future DVC add on purchases until I know for sure what's going on.

I wish you the best in your pursuit for an add-on. Did you decide if you wanted HH or VB?

ZerasPride--Nope, we can't make up our minds on which beach resort so that's why we decided on the 50/50--actually through the help of another DVC thread. Lots of variables are causing us to be indecisive--HH: harder to get studios and 1BR's, higher closing costs (resale), have only stayed there once (2 nights in studio) but it's 5 hours closer. VB: harder to get 2BR's, higher annual dues, LOVE the resort! And on and on it goes! Resales might be best economically but it's a bigger chunk of $$ to part with in this uncertain economy. And BTW, I hope all works out with your job. Nothing is certain any more with job stability!

We just added 50 pts at VB three weeks ago. It was $3,100 for the MB program. $13 off per point.

MB for VB and HH will change from $13/point down to $10/point, effective this Sunday, when BCV go on sale. I'd read that here, but was just talking with a supervisor at DVC today and he told me this. He confirmed that you can do MB at these two resorts for 50 points, but not VWL (which my guide had incorrectly told me). Lucky you!

I did the presentation on the Magic 2 weeks ago. When I called today, the sales rep. said that the $13 buy-back was for Cruise only, and that as of today 1/31 there was no buyback at all for HH; that possibly MB (at $10) would be offered again on Sunday after the BCV announcement. This concerns me because I know that other people not just cruisers were offered this. Makes the resales offered much more attractive. Is there a secret to getting the MB?

We just added 60 pts at VB today to give us 110 there. We did use MB's at $62 pt. Tomorrow(friday 2-1) is the last day to get the MB at $13 pt. Thats why we added on now. We know the dues are a little higher there, but we wanted to be able to have the 11 month window there for winter time. I think down the road, when VB sells out, it will be hard to book VB in the winter time. Also we still like OKW the best, but we have never had a problem getting a reservation there even at 7 months out. Even though we have OKW as a home resort also, we figure , if we wanted to it would be easier to use all of our points at OKW if wanted , and still be able to book Vero at the 11 month window every other yr and get a 1BR for a week. It is very hard to find a re-sale at OKW with a small contract (50-100 pts).
Our ultimate goal is when we retire in 5 yrs, go down to Florida for the month of January and stay at OKW and Vero for a month using a 1BR and studio. And with a total of 410 pts now i think we will be able to do that now!!!!!!!!

How did you add today with MB if I am being told that there is no MB on Vero or HH? This is so frustrating; I finally make up my mind to buy, and I can't because it was "cruise only" and yet I see here that other people are getting MB on the same day.

It is available at VB and HH until Sunday Feb 3rd.Check with your guide. Our guide is Marc Turner at HH Preview Center. We didn't finance, put it on credit card, to get frequent flyer miles, then will pay it off when bill comes. You should be able to get MB's at those 2 resorts (VB + HH) until monday Feb 4th.If you need any other info just e-mail me or PM me.
