It seems against the spirit of what I love about Disney World to debate the technicalities of the rules. The idea of MB is to allow youngsters (who have a much harder time than adults waiting in long lines) to experience their first bit of Disney magic. If that means some special time just for them then what's the harm?

If you as an adult think it's "not fair" or "agism", just think of how few rides and shows little ones can experience compared to you. Besides, they will be so tired after a few hours they will want to go back to their room and nap (making the lines shorter for everyone else).

Also, there are adult/big kid only times too... they're called EXTRA EVENING MAGIC HOURS! Think of having a whole park to your adult-selves from 10pm until 1am (not many pre-schoolers will be around then!).

No, maybe noone should be turned away from MB... but just because you "can" go, doesn't mean you "should". If you can't understand that, well then, enjoy your trip!
:sad2:

Very well said! Thank you :goodvibes

You know I started to read this thread cause I was curious to see how MB was doing. I have never once thought that there would not be other guests taking advantage of MB with or without kids. After all, this is WDW there will be lines. However some of you are getting just mean.

As a parent of a toddler I can see where the other parents are coming from. If you are a parent or even a big brother you should too. They are not talking about what they are entitled to, they are asking you, as one disney fan to another please give us this hour. What's this big deal you ask? Well, a 9 year old or even a really tall 10 year old do not need to take naps. We take our toddler back to the room from 1-4 and again at 8. Therefore, he has half the time as a 9 year old and 10 year old.

Again, it doesn't matter to us. To us a line is a line. Someone wrote they promise not to run over our beautiful little preshoolers! Wow, has it been so long since your daughter was that age that you write about innocent little children in such a manner???

I had no plans to post anything on this thread I was just curious. I was just taken aback at the attacks on the children in question. Then,as a mom I'm going to get grumpy.

And if you have no children and you want to show up at MB. I'm cool with that. We, the parents are not going to gang up on you and make your vacation miserable. We ask the same. Don't complain about the children. If you do, (and I mean the author that complained about screaming children) maybe WDW is not for you.

Okay, I promised that I wasn't going to come back but when I found out that my sincere statement was being interpreted as malicious I had to set the record straight and defend myself.

I was ABSOLUTELY sincere in my statement "I promise to not run over your beautiful preschoolers the morning I am there, and hope that you will offer me the same courtesy by not being nasty to anyone there without a verifiable preschooler."

There was no intention of sarcasm, maliciousness or even plain pettiness. If you read what I wrote in post 26--my kids and I LOVE "little ones". We ABSOLUTLEY think they are all beautiful. We love to see them enjoying themselves at Disney. We usually even think the ones that are throwing tantrums are really cute! Their enjoyment at Disney is very pure and special and a complete joy to see. My 6 yr old is especially "nurturing" to younger ones.

Notice, I didn't even include the word "IF" as in I won't run over you IF you won't be rude to us. I just asked for a mutual agreement for courtesy and respect. I think we are all going to have to agree to disagree, and to live and let live.

Many posters here and on another thread were complaining that they didn't want their "little ones" being run over by big kids and adults. I want to make it perfectly clear that I was only responding to that "fear" and being reassuring. I was in no way making threats or implying anything of that sort. I know that in can be very hard to convey emotion in a forum post, but nothing in the statement I made should have been "twisted" in that way. I am really stunned and hurt that it was.

And, before I go, I did answer the OP's question in post #24.

My last word to some of the recent comments--my 10 yr old DOES take a nap back at the hotel in the afternoon and is usually in bed by 8:00 also. All children get tired, especially at Disney, and especially in the extreme heat and humidity. Sometimes the Mommy's do to.

Usually :disrocks: , but right now I am not so sure I want to be here anymore. . . :sad1:

I think we'd all do well to follow lovetoscrap's (laughing at irony of name :rotfl: ) lead and agree to disagree. I think this topic has been beat to death. Let's all just assume we'll be having too much fun with our own families to be worrying about what everyone else is doing.

Now...everybody in for a group :grouphug:

I just want to comment on the statement about the screaming children. I have been to WDW a few times, 3 times with children. I just realized when I read this that I cannot recall one time of hearing screaming children at WDW. I'm sure there probably were at some point in my trip. I remember seeing all their happy little faces when they watch the parade and watching them interact with the characters. I guess I am so happy when I am there, I feel like a child. This place makes me forget about my problems for the few days I am there. Sorry if this is long. I just thought it was strange that I haven't noticed screaming children on my trips.

so someone at the beginning of this post asked about the stuff at disney-mgm studios (i haven't read the middle 3 pages of posts, but i figured they were just of magic kingdom stuff anyways)- so this past weekend was the imagioneer movers and they were really cute- there is no age limit on who can go see them, just be sure to get a fast pass for the event AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO THE PARK!!! aka: right as the park opens- this will go double for the wiggles and the doodlebops- all the cms' are already talking about how these passes will go fast and standby tickets will not be availble for the wiggles- also the Play-N-Dine character dining at mgm is so wonderful (i'm not biased cause i've worked several shifts there as different people- hehe no one will ever be able to "see me" working there :)- it is so cute with june, leo, jojo and goliath there, the food is good and the whole atmosphere is centered around having fun- not like all the other character dinings where getting pictures is the most important- there are playhouse pals that come out every 15-20 minutes and sing (and the kids are always invited up to dance with them and the characters) breakfast is a slow time which gives each table about 7 different times to interact with character- all the characters are focused on making sure the family is having fun and they do not run up to a table for pics and autographs and then leave, they LOVE to stay and play with the kids and the menu (buffet bar) is definatly kid friendly food :)

Entitle this.

I'm a 27 year old male and will be going to MB on September 1st. Do I have a pre-schooler? No. Not at all.

But I do have a little brother who will turn 9 that day and has been talking about spending the entire day in Magic Kingdom, on his birthday, for more than a year. Talked and talked and talked.

Am I now to tell him, "Sorry, Tim, we just can't go in yet, we have to let the other kids (there isn't much difference between a 5-year-old and 9-year-old to him) play first. We'll go in at 9 o'clock when the lines are nice and long.

Entitlement? Nice try.
Totally o/t - but I don't know many people with the same bday as me. So tell the soon to be 9 year old happy birthday for me (I'll be in Epcot)

Hello, the promotional material for Magical Beginnings does say "little ones 5 and under".

Please point me to the promotional material that says "little ones 5 and under". I have never seen anything, other then the DIS boards, regarding age.

No, I most certainly do not consider my 7-yo a "little one." She is a 2nd grader, an avid reader, has been riding Space Mountain for 2 years (and is very small for her age), does not nap and is capable of staying up late. My 2-yo, on the other hand, is still in diapers, gets fussy, takes naps and goes to bed early.

I certainly don't want to argue with you or anyone else. Let's just agree to disagree, ok?

I will agree to disagree - Could somebody please point me in the direction of something that says ages 5 and under? I have searched but am unable to find.

If my DD is not 44' she can not ride Space mountain. Some 6 yr olds are not even starting first grade yet. Your DD was tall enough at age 5 but yet she is not considered tall. You must live in a much different place from me.
I am confused over who, other then parents on this board, are determining what Disney considers a "little one".

Disney has added so much for "little ones" but people still want to complain that it is not enough because it is for everybody, not just "little ones". If you want a time or an attraction that is for a specific age or height. Take it up with Disney not the other guests that are trying to share the magic with you.

Disney does stuff all the time that are marketed to specific groups but open to all.

I have just found several sites including laughingplace.com, travelwithkids.about.com and wdwnews.com which refer to the program as being devoted to "preschoolers and toddlers."

http://www.wdwnews.com/ViewPressRelease.aspx?PressReleaseID=103553

http://www.laughingplace.com/Latest.asp?I1=ID&I2=1144

http://travelwithkids.about.com/od/disneyparks/qt/megical_beginni.htm

It is obvious that Disney designed this program to make it a little easier for people with very young children, aka preschoolers and toddlers.

That's the last I have to say about it. Like I said before, let's agree to disagree.

My DD turned 7 in May and is 50 inches tall. She is in the 50th percentile for height according to her ped. last week. :confused3

Believe or not I actually now agree with you.
I consider my DD a "little one" who happens to love fantasy land and was planning on taking her to this as well as Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and the Mickey Magic Show.
I am now planning on doing none of the above.
Thank you for showing this to me
I'm sorry if people think that Disney shouldn't have to spell this out for me that this is not for my family but I feel they dropped the ball by not making it clear on the main web site.
I even had my IP suggest remind me that MK would be open an hour early on these days for Fantasy land and the age of my children is clear on my reservation.

I love these posts. I suppose Disney really does bring the "child" out in all of us.

Honestly, I cant see how this topic got so out of hand, but I dont have kids... and I dont even wake up early enough to take advantage of AM EMH, so... I dont really have much to say on any of that.

Just a thought, if Disney wanted it to be for everyone then wouldn't they call it the "everyone EMH". It seems to me this title explains itself. I am sure Diseny never thought people would get their underwear all up in a ball. I myself am a little surprised at all this discussion on it. If I was there with my husband with no children then I would not attend. Chill out people it is Disney, the most magical place on earth.? I think it is great to allow the wee ones a little extra time. And it is great marketing on Disney to try to boast the numbers for September since most bigger kids are in school. I too am interested in anyone who goes to this event and how the crowds are. I hope someone can share this info soon.

I just callled CRO and they said that while its targeted for Preschoolers, it is open to anyone staying at a WDW Resort. So that being said hopefully people will allow the little ones the opportunity to ride without a long wait. I know my kids get a little cranky after waiting over an hour to ride Dumbo. This would be a neat time for them to avoid having to do all that...

I guess I am just Stupid because I thought my 7 yr old was a "little one"

I know they grow up fast but I guess I wasn't paying attention when my 7 yr old who is still not tall enough for space mountain was no longer considered a "little one".

I no longer plan on going to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, the Mickey Magic Show or MK during the little ones hour.

Sorry and thanks for having patience for an idiot like me thinking my 7 yr old is a little one.

This really is getting terrific. Apology accepted, stupid.

Let's look at the excuses. Little ones need naps, so me and the big 8-year-old should stay away. Well, as a matter of staying relaxed, I leave the park everyday between 1 and 2 p.m. While, I don't nap, Timmy sure does. Not everyday, but sometimes. Oh wait, I forgot, resting is only for little ones.

I also find the people talking about how they hate waiting for an hour for Dumbo with their child to be rather humorous. Get up, get to the park at opening, and march yourself back there. You'll ride in about 5 minutes. Hey, you may even be able to ride it twice. And before jumping down my throat about getting up and going, you are getting up an extra hour early for MB, no reason not to do it another day.

I've actually reached the point in this thread where I'm trying to be obnoxious, that is how stunned I am.

I'll be there for MB. I'm going to go check out Mickey's Philharmagic. Then I'll probably grab a Blueberry muffin and milk (or is that only for kids? Do I have to drink coffee), and then I'll go stand by the rope for Space Mountain to open. Should be a fun time.

I hope I don't ruin your day.

RedsocksMickey:
Not exactly sure what you point is. Sorry if I do not understand your post. :confused3
It just amazes me at how upset some are getting about this! Come on now. I think this is being blown way out there. I would think the whole idea is to allow small children to enjoy some rides without long waits. It seems like Fantasy land is the land with the longest waits anytime of the day. I guess it is like anything else, you gotta do what you gotta do. My statement was if I was with my husband with no children I would not attend. I am in shock that this topic is causing so much fuss. Life is so short to worry over one extra hour in Disney. If you feel like you have to attend that hour then go for it. I was just stating my opinion of the ordeal. So many freak out so soon. Wait until someone here on the Dis post their experiances with this new EMH. This may solve all these issues. Disney should not have named this "preschool and toddler" and allow everyone else to attend as well. Just call is the regular EMH. I have not heard one complaint from people saying they wanted this. Disney is the one who promoted this idea. Maybe they should run all new ideas here on the Dis. Seems like their are plenty here who would show them the loop holes etc etc.
