Magical Beginnings

I heard that this is for any Disney resort guest. I have a 3 1/2 year old DGD and if I didn't have her with me, I can't imagine being there early in the AM with all the little ones just for Fantasyland. Maybe it's just because I'm getting older, but I don't think it would be worth it since I couldn't go to the other lands for another hour.

Why shouldn't this hour be for the little guys??

If I am not mistaken, the purpose is to accomodate little kids without the big ones towering over them - for just one hour & not to add another EMH for everyone else. It is not as though park time is being taken away from anyone else for this special group.

As the owner of some of these little people :dance3: I say Hooray to Disney for letting me give them this special hour and Boo to those who want to steal it from them!

What about Playhouse Disney at MGM -
Is Mickey Magic Show limited to families with 5 year old?
Would actually love a review of the show if anybody has been.

What about character breakfast at MGM - any age restrictions for that?

I think they are just offering more choices during this time period and gearing it (not limiting to) towards preschoolers. 3 extra days a week that MK is open early plus some shows and a new character breakfast.

The All Ears Newsletter just arrived and has a first hand account of MB!

Said the crowds were low and lots of characters were available and "playing" with the kids. I specifically mentioned playing Ring around the Rosie with Snow White, Follow the Leader with Peter Pan ,Wendy, May I? with Wendy, and the rest of the PP gang, and hide and seek with Tigger and Piglet. The person reporting also said that they got to ride Peter Pan WITH Wendy. They highly recommend it.

(I am not cutting an pasting the entire report since I am not sure that is okay with All Ears or DIS rules--but I have paraphrased most of it here)

This sounds like a great time and totally worth it! Can't wait!

Anything about an age limit in the newsletter?

I can't see Disney enforcing an age limit - does that mean you have to leave your older kids back in the room? What about an older child who is developmentally delayed, and may be 11 yrs old, but developmentally a 3 yr old?

Nothing about ages--it was just a first hand report from somewhere there this morning.

Really, I think everyone is just getting way worked up about this for no reason. Disney is not going to restrict anyone from going. There is nothing that specifies an age limit, and they are not going to tell people they can bring a child of the "proper" age and not another one. Disney is also one of the most accomodating places in the world for guests with disabilities and they aren't going to say you can't enter because technically they are over the age.

I am going with my 6 and 10 yr olds. We will all have a great time, but I will also remind them that this is a VERY special thing for the younger kids and they are always very respectful of little ones. In fact they are most likely to be standing on the side going AWWWW, Mommy, isn't that little kid cute????

Yes, but there have been posts on the Dis about people being told that there would be info at the resorts about MB having an age limit - just was wondering if it really was so or not...

At no time has Disney said there was an age limit. No company in their right mind would advertise early admission to attract travellers to their resort and then apply restrictions once you are there. My DW and I will be at MB this Sunday, will be going on attractions, & if anyone is rude enough to think that somehow they are more entitled because of a marketing strategy, well I am quite prepared to set them straight.

Aww, I'm dissapointed. I was looking forward to a time with just families with preschoolers and not having to worry about waiting in line an hour for Dumbo. That was the one thing I regretted about our last trip: not getting to ride Dumbo, but its too hard to wait with a baby. I thought since the Magical Beginnings was restricted to families with toddlers and preschoolers we'd have a better chance at smaller lines.

Moreover, I don't see anything wrong with them restricting it if they did. Just like I could be restricted by the park closing early for a ticketed event I can't get into like Grad nights. But youre right, Disney never used the wording that it was just for families with young children.

Wow. People on this board can get mean. Does anyone seriously begrudge a bunch of 3 year olds one extra hour in Fantasyland?

It is a special time being marketed for families with young children. Why is everyone being so mean spirited about this? Do you all have that little of vacation time that you would HAVE to be in the park an extra hour early? It's a shame that a bunch of adults would feel the need to complain about being left out of something that is supposed to be special for little kids. I see so many posts about how Disney should have special events or certain times designated just for adults, because the place is being overrun with children, yet the adults want to make sure that they are right there in the midst of a child's activity.

Ok....so here it is officially from the DW website.....it says RESORT GUESTS.....it does not say PARENTS with PRESCHOOLERS.....
SO...this means it is open to ALL resort guests.....this logically makes sense!

Little Ones Magic Hour Benefit‡
As a special benefit for Disney Resort Guests, Fantasyland® in Magic Kingdom® Park will open one hour early on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays during the Little Ones Travel Time. Resort Guests can enjoy an extra hour of fun at select Fantasyland® attractions and fun magical experiences with beloved Disney Characters.

So go and enjoy Fantasyland if your heart desires.....even if it is your inner child!!!! :woohoo:

I really can't see them restricting access as I am sure it would be a nightmare to screen how old your children really are. And for parents with younger ones and older ones, they couldn't possibly tell you that you can bring one child but not another. I am not trying to be mean-sprited about this as others have suggested and I am not about to get in the way of little one's character time. With that said, I am not about to feel bad if I attend this extra hour EMH. Since I get up at five every morning, I am not about to sit around twiddling my thumbs when I could be at a park riding rides. I feel that Disney is one of the only places where you can be a kid again and I plan on taking full adavantage of every opportunity that befalls me.

Looks like it doesnt it! All I can say is what comes around goes around. Karma is funny that way.

So from what I can tell this is just something they are doing for a few weeks right?

I swear every time I read one of these type of threads, I say to myself-walk away!!!!

But of course I can't. The "entitlement" of this society we live in is absolutely amazing to me.

:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Yikes, what a bunch of dufi...

All I was asking was if they were enforcing an age limit, since people had mentioned that they had been told that there would be info about an age limit at the resorts. I think a poster said a CM told him that over the phone...

I also pointed out the difficulties WDW would face if they chose to have an age limit. For goodness sakes, fix your panties, I wasn't planning on stampeding a bunch of drooling toddlers to get to Dumbo first... :rotfl:

Actually, we don't even have a trip planned in the near future - I just curious about how Disney would be able to manage a restriction without it becoming a discrimination case.

And yes, I know what's been printed online - but there have been posts on the Dis about people being told that there was going to be info about an age limit in the check-in packets.

Entitle this.

I'm a 27 year old male and will be going to MB on September 1st. Do I have a pre-schooler? No. Not at all.

But I do have a little brother who will turn 9 that day and has been talking about spending the entire day in Magic Kingdom, on his birthday, for more than a year. Talked and talked and talked.

Am I now to tell him, "Sorry, Tim, we just can't go in yet, we have to let the other kids (there isn't much difference between a 5-year-old and 9-year-old to him) play first. We'll go in at 9 o'clock when the lines are nice and long.

Entitlement? Nice try.

Lovetoscrap - Thanks for that info!! I'm glad it wasn't that crowded and all those extra games would be great for my kids - they would love it!!!

patrizella - are you referring to the "entitlement" parents of preschoolers feel since this is marketed as Magical Beginnings to preschoolers or the "entitlement" people without kids feel that they should be allowed also??

Personally, when I read about this as we were planning our trip, I was excited for some time with just families with young children and perhaps shorter lines. I would define young as less than teenagers, I certainly expected to see 9, 10,12 year olds there. I did not expect to see families with only older kids or adults with no children there.

And the lines aren't going to be long the rest of the day? Do you really think that the extra hour in the morning is going to somehow make the park empty for the rest of the day?

For the people who have the "we are there and paying our hard earned money, so we are entitled to it" mentality. No, you are not paying anything more than if the park were to open at 9am.

And yes, I do agree that they would have a hard time enforcing an age limit/check at the gates unless you booked this as a "package" and they were handing out wristbands for it when you checked into your resort.

I don't think that by having some adults and older kids join the MB fun it will make much of a difference in the crowds. Most uninformed guests will assume that it is ONLY for little kids and won't even bother to try to show up.

Imagine if you're a resort guest and you go to MK on a MB day but don't go until 9am. Just imagine what the lines in Fantasyland will be like by then?!? If I'm going on a MB day - you're darn right I'll be there at 8am - or I'll just go to another park.

Live and let live and have fun - it's Disney! :cheer2:
