Magic Your Way ticket question

We're going to Disney in April (our 3rd visit). So far we've always just bought the basic Magic Your Way ticket. But this time we're staying for 2 weeks and are going to add the waterpark option.

We usually buy our tickets through undercovertourist.com and use the slightly discounted mousesavers rate.

There is a slight "discrepancy" that I'm hoping you can answer.

The difference between the base ticket and the waterpark ticket is $70.

But the mousesaver website also indicates that if you only buy the base ticket and later decide to upgrade it, you can add that in for approx $58. That's a savings of $12 per ticket.

Why would it be more expensive to "do it right the first time"?

Am I missing something?

I would guess that it's because the 7 day base ticket is being sold at the same price as a 6 day ticket. So you get extra savings on the 7 day base.
Those bonus savings don't translate to the WPF&M tickets.

In this case it looks like it would be cheaper to buy the base 7 day and add on the WPF&M option at WDW.

Not sure about the Undercover tourist tickets but a 7 day MYW ticket from WDW would be $267 + tax. Adding the WPM option is $55 + tax no matter how many days you will be there. The difference in a 6 and 7 day MYW ticket is only $8 no matter if you add the WPM option or one of the other options on top of that.

First of all, Mary from Mousesavers mentions in her newletter that we are not supposed to post the prices for the tickets. So you should edit your OP.

Secondly, if you look at the savings over the gate price for both of those tickets, the 7-day base ticket vs. the 7-day WPF&M, you will see that there is a big difference. The savings on the 7-day base ticket is much greater than the savings on the WPF&M ticket.

Needless to say, the base ticket is your better value. You can add the WPF&M to it at Disney and save the difference.

Disney wholesales out tickets at a discount. Once they are in the hands of an authorized reseller (such as UCT) they can charge any price they want. If you go to the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in the TPA&S Forum, especially Post #18-A, you can see the entire ticket price list (note this list does not include the 6.5% sales tax which UCT shows in their pricing). An easy way to get to the sticky is by clicking on the link in my signature. The ticket sticky is your friend!

Oops! I didn`t realize that I wasn`t supposed to post the price. OP adjusted - thanks Marionnette. (The different between the regular UT pricing and the mousesavers pricing is minimal, and I didn`t realize the price posting prohibition).

I will buy the 7 day base ticket through UT and just add on the waterpark option at the parks - definitely the best deal! Thanks everyone.
