I think this is understable. Places where where people are desperate tend not to be the safest. Every time I've been to San Juan I've noticed a pretty big police presence on the streets. I'm sure their resources are spread thin as far as police, fire and medical.
I would not go to San Juan right now. I've done a lot of traveling around the world. I'm pretty comfortable going about anywhere. I would not go to to a city where people are desperate for basic things like food and water. I don't see the point in taking that chance.
Well unfortunately some of us are stuck with our cruise. We bought VGT rate and if we don't want to go to San Juan we miss the ship and lose all our money. We have insurance but since the ship is sailing I don't believe we have any grounds for a refund from the Insurance company. Were stuck so we have to make the best of it. My only thinking now is that I might want to fly in on that day so i don't have to do anything but get from the airport to the cruise port. Its Dec 1 so I/we would be taking a chance that we could have problems getting out of the North East so I usually like to fly a day before. Our Hotel has been called and they assure us they are up and operating and all is well with them and near them. It sucks to have this hanging over our head. The hurricane hit after PIF date so most of us on the Dec 1 cruise are stuck with having to go and Disney just informed us all is still on.
