We read in the new passporter that there is a reading room on the Magic. Can anyone tell us where on the ship it's located. Thanks. :listen:

Well if they mean the small room on Deck 2 called "The Game Room/Library" don't count on much.....this is one area where DCL is really lacking. There were a few board games and a few paperbacks.....most likely ones left by other passengers....it was not a traditional ship's library at all. We last sailed on the Magic in '04 and it had not improved at that time since our previous visits.

I much prefer reading out on Deck 4 in those really comfy deck chairs....

Take a look!!!

This is an area that was actually much better on earlier cruises. It started out well stocked--mostly Hyperion publications (a Disney company) and books about Disney topics. There were a few board games, etc. There was a sign out book, and you could take items to your stateroom.

On later cruises, we found that the area tended to be locked quite a lot, and when we could get in the selection had diminished greatly--I suspect some users had items that went into their suitcases. On our most recent cruise, the library was locked both times I tried...

It is on deck 2 near the conference rooms/elevators.

Our rooms were on Deck 2 and I never even noticed it until the last day. You can check out books at the Cove Cafe. They have a selection of somewhat recent hardback books.

I understand that when the Magic goes into dry dock in October the conference rooms and reading rooms will be made over into more kid areas. I didn't hear this firsthand, but from a friend who went to the Captain's behind the scenes talk. Maybe someone out there has more info.

That is correct. We heard the same information on the WC cruise on 5/28. The reading room will be gone after dry dock this October.

You all know more than the Concierge on board!! :rotfl2: I asked the same question last week and was told there was no such place. Later I found the Cove Cafe and found a small locked bookshelf of fairly current hard cover books!! They never mentioned the Game Room/Library when I asked :confused3
