Just got back from the 7-night Eastern on the Magic. It was great.
My daughter has CP and uses a motorized wheelchair. We had the handicapped room, 7638 Cat 5 with a veranda. It is near the back of the ship next to the 'secret' deck. The room is very large with a roll-in shower. The over the door shoe hanger did not fit this door, so we hung it in the closet. More than enough room for the 4 of us. There is a murphy bed in this one. Problem is that when it is down you have to jump over it to get to the veranda. The closet is huge enough with a steamer trunk inside.:p
The ship was very accessible, no problems with them, but you do run into rude people everywhere. Most elevators were full of able bodied people and sometimes when we were waiting people would push ahead before the chair. Getting to the back of the ship was not that bad, but if people leave stuff in the halls it becomes an obsticle course. Accessible bathrooms were at a minimum, but once we learned where they were, we adjusted. You just gotta be prepared. I booked thru Disney and they provided a wheelchair lift equipped bus to get us from and to the port from the Hyatt. All plans were made well in advance with several follow up phone calls to make sure they were prepared.
We had a great time. My kids are 17 year old boy/girl twins and found enough interesting things to do. Even being a little shy, both managed to make a few friends. The Stack was very crowded on the first night but my daughter tells me that once she had a friend, they found other things to do. So i cannot comment on the program. My son managed to keep himself busy near the sports and there were no complaints at all. We used a beach chair at Castaway cay and it worked well for us. I think the trip was wonderful in that we all came home with good memories. We were all just tickled pick to be there!! Can't wait to do it again.

Glad to hear you had a great time. Wish I could have been there. ;)

Glad you & your family had a great time time!! We're taking our friend Steve who has Muscular Dystrophy & use a large power wheelchair with vent attached on his 3rd Disney Cruise! We'll be on the 7 Day Western July 17th in our favorite stateroom 6154 in the aft section. I know what you mean about some of the people & the elevators & all, but we've learned to be bold but polite when we say excuse me!!! (sometimes they just look at you like they don't have a clue!) & I don't think they do!! Maybe we'll see you on board sometime!! Cathie & The Gang:wave2:
