We are going to be at Magic Kingdom and want to find the fastest way to Hollywood Studios for Fantasmic. Can we take the monorail from MK to Epcot. then go into Epcot and take a boat or walk to Boardwalk? Then from Boardwalk take the boat over to Hollywood Studios? Would this be the fastest?

We are staying at POR and don't know if it is quicker going from MK to POR and then getting on the next bus to HS.

TIA

The key to speed using WDW transportation is to minimize transfers. Just take the DHS bus from MK if time is going to be an issue. The boat from DHS to EPCOT is wonderful, but keep in mind you stop at all resorts along the way to pick up and drop off guest. Definitely use the monorail at some point, such as MK to EPCOT or MK to eat at one of the lagoon resorts :goodvibes

As boring as it sounds bus is by far the fastest route. Taking the monorail to Epcot you'd have to go through security at Epcot (takes forever) then walk all the way across half the park to exit through the IG. Then wait for the boat (if it isn't there). Make 4 stops and finally make it to DHS. I would estimate this could take you anywhere from 70-90 minutes.

Or you take a direct bus from MK to DHS. No stops in between. Probably 12-15 min tops. No brainer.

The bus to DHS is quickest, but IIRC that bus is actually at the TTC. The busses at the front gate of MK are the resort busses. You must take the monorail or boat over to the TTC to catch the bus to DHS.

Fastest: WALK from Magic Kingdom to Contemporary. Take a taxi to DHS.
Second fastest: WALK from MK to Contemporary. Take the DHS bus to, well, DHS.

Taking the monorail to EPCOT,going into EPCOT and then taking the boats from the International Gateway to DHS could easily be close to 2 hours, those boats are not fast.I mean just getting to EPCOT could be 30 minutes counting travel time on the monorail and waiting for one, then you have to go in the park which means security check, going through the turnstiles and walking to the back of one of the biggest parks and THEN getting to the boats where you might have to wait 15 minutes for them to come and when they finally get there and load everyone they have to make stops at all the resorts.

I would say these are you're best options:

1.Monorail to TTC and take the bus to DHS.
2.Walk to the Contemporary and take the bus to DHS.
3.Take a bus to the Boardwalk from MK and walk/or take the boat to DHS.

The fastest way would definitely be taking a monorail to TTC and then getting on the HS bus. There are three buses dedicated to just going back & forth between TTC abd HS, so your wait will not be long and also these buses do not make any other stops.

The bus from CO will make stops at PO & GF before going to HS

I've got to challenge the posters that say there are no park to park buses available....We've never had to use TTC in the 15 years of going to WDW to get to a park:confused3 Park buses go to resorts and parks, plus DTD and waterparks; resort buses go to "non resorts" only. A straight shot from MK to DHS is what you want to do;)

You can also take a bus straight out of MK and transfer at a resort* for DHS thus avoiding TTC. The straight shot from MK to DHS is not offered (yet). Park to Downtown Disney also needs a transfer.

* Via Caribbean Beach or Pop Century or Port Orleans is not that circuitous.

I agree with the poster that said to walk to Contemp. and take the HS bus.

-My second choice would be take the monorail to TTC then the bus to HS.

-My third choice would be to take the bus to boardwalk/beach club/dolphin area and walk over or take the boat from there to HS.

I'm pretty sure the only busses that go to the MK gate are the resort busses. All of the others meet at the TTC.

The straight shot from MK to DHS is not offered (yet).
And likely never will be, given that (a) the TTC works for MK-to-other-park transportation (why should DHS and AK have an advantage over Epcot?) and (b) all the bus stops directly outside the MK are assigned (to resorts) already.

Challenge away ;). You've never taken a bus directly between Magic Kingdom and Disney Hollywood Studios/MGM.

Wow...thanks for all the options. Now which one to pick:confused: I'll have 3 kids so I'll want to alleviate as much walking as possible. I think we might try the monorail to TTC and then take the bus to HS. Since MK woul have extra magic hours the night we are planning on Fantasmic, I could then go from HS to TTC and monorail back to MK.

Thanks for all the ideas of how to get there. Finding the quickest route can be so confusing sometimes. I wish they'd offer the park to park option instead of this round about way. Oh well, can't complain to much, 5 days away and then I'll see palm trees :cool1: (is it snowy and cold here in Wisconsin with more snow coming and temperatures dropping :headache:)

Keep in mind that the other parks do have direct park to park routes - just not MK

All parks have park to park buses,MK is different in that it has the monorail or ferry coming from the TTC which is essentially the parking lot for MK.So basically it also has park to park buses it's just that you have to take the monorail or ferry first, and if you're going to EPCOT switch to the EPCOT monorail line. The MK buses that get close to the park are the buses to the resorts that are not on the monorail resort line. There are a lot of options in Disney transportation such as the walking to or from MK to or from the Contemporary,or for example you want to go EPCOT's World Showcase from MK,you'd be better off getting a Boardwalk or Y&B Club bus from MK than taking the monorail since you'd be a short walk from EPCOT"s International Gateway rather than coming in from the front of the park via the monorail.
