Magic Kingdom to Grand Floridian

Going from the MK to the GF you can either take a boat or the monorail. I'd take the boat over the monorail. If you were to take the monorail you would make stops at the Contemporary, TTC & Poly before getting to the GF.

Its not possible to walk from the MK to the GF.

What is the best way to fet to GF from MK? Monorail? How long of a walk is it?

Your options are monorail or boat (like the pp said) as you can't walk between the MK and GF (although that would be nice). I agree with the pp that the boat is probably the fastest as the monorail makes stops at the CR, TTC, and Poly before reaching the GF.

I would take the monorail to get there since it's on the resort loop and it goes GF->MK -> CR -> TTC -> poly -> GF

The boat goes MK -> GF -> Poly -> MK

So basically the monorail is one stop away from the MK when you are leaving the GF and the 4th stop ( did I add that right?) from the MK.

And the boat is the first stop when leaving the MK.

I wish the walkway was complete too!

I like using hte boat because it's faster (usually, unless the line is really long) and I like the ride. That being said, it's worth noting that the motor launches used to go from the MK to GF and Poly are not ECV accessible and wheelchairs and strollers have to be folded up to board.

Going to GF in 2 weeks (yay!!) but need advice from others that have visiting when the monorail is down for maintenance first thing in the morning for rope drop. Are there buses direct to MK or is the boat that stops at contemporary the best bet? Thanks!

Yes, there are direct buses to MK & to Epcot before the monorails open.

Boats are normally scheduled to start 1/2 hour before park opening, which would miss the MK Welcome show. I don't know whether or not that has been moved up during the monorail upgrade; ask the concierge.

(The boat stops at Poly, not CR.)

Thanks - appreciate the reply! I meant boat stops at Poly before MK (not sure why I said contemporary). I was planning to talk to concierge onsite to confirm, but curious if anyone on these boards had first hand experience from this summer.

Not to hijack, but I also have a question about MK to Grand Floridian. We love 1900 Park Fare and have an 8:30a b'fast reservation. We've always done the Monorail, because we just like it, but this year it won't even be running until 8:30a, so no go. I do understand that we can take the resort launch, but am paranoid about what time it will be running. Before 8:30a? I'm scared we'll need to leave our resort (POR) at 7:00a to get there, ha!

For an 8:30 ADR at 1900 PF, you should be leaving POR by 7! You may have a 20 min wait for the bus, then it could leave the resort immediately, or it could take another 15 mins to make other stops. Then the ride to MK. If you took the monorail, it would take 20 mins from MK to the GF. The boat takes about 10 mins......neither of these estimates include possible wait times. You could ask the driver, when you board the bus, if the monorail or the boat is quicker to the GF. The driver may offer to take you to the GF on the way out of the area....but it's nothing you can count on. Your best bet may be a cab.

At first your reply didn't make sense, but then I went back and read my post. I intended to put 6:00am :). Yes, we're aware we need to leave early to get to the GF. We've done 1900 Park Fare several times, so we know the drill.

But in my post I said that the monorail won't be an option because it's not going to be running until 8:30, which is our ADR time. So we'll take a launch. And a cab really isn't a consideration as we drive down, so last resort, we'd just take our vehicle. I think we'll be fine with the resort launch.

but they sure let you think you might be able to with that path that just ends.

checking via Google Earth .. the path that 'just ends'

ends at a canal, that leads to the place where the night water parade boats park ....

the only thing that crosses this canal is/are the monorail tracks . . . .

You should absolutely drive!

I would take the car hands down. You may consider valet parking then hop the monorail to MK when your finished.
