Magic Kingdom to begin test on Disney Dine on the Go

thinking of this more, it's a lot like what sea world offers and that is actually a decent price compared to what they charge for a meal. now lets see what disney does price wise. taking a small loss on 2 meals vs cash in hand might be more profitable than just having someone buy 1 or possibly no meals.

Disney could easily give a 50% discount and still "make money" on any meal they serve.

I would consider this if one could spread the meals over a 7 or 14 day period, instead of having to use both in one day. But, that's not the focus of the marketing effort. The focus is to lock a day trip customer into 2 meals at a Disney property, instead of just one. And, in its present incarnation (limited to specific counter service at MK and price), it's clearly not for someone like me that would just like to save a few bucks on OOP dining.

I agree. I do a max of 1 meal if I even do 1 meal. If they actually had a savings, I'd use this here and there to get 2 meals and remove the hassle to eat when home but with it costing more in many cases I can just pay and get 2 when I feel like it. I just can't find things priced high enough that I would actually order if there is even something high enough..

I guess I'm not the target audience.

i don't see it as a convenience service. I don't think it's a great "deal" for the typical "planner type" Disney visitor. But for a first timer being told they ll save 20 percent and it's so simple and pre paid so convenient, lol.
what I actually see is...
No great savings, 2 QS meals , Eh..,and more important
Being told Where to eat and What time to eat... so, no I'll pass.

They probably want to stop all the "water" orders, so they figure this is the best way while making top dollar...

Of course, watch for all these locations to increase their entree costs $2-3 in the next few weeks to make this plan have more "value" - you know it's coming, b/c this is Iger Disney...
I think you sniffed it out.

Why? You say?

To exploit "convenience"/prepay to the obtuse customer that assumes disney isn't trying to rip them off...which is exactly what they're trying to do.

Somewhere I did read it is good for several days. I can't remember specifically how many, though. @yulilin3 did I read that here?

It seems made for school or tour groups. I could see overwhelmed band chaperones glad to hand out vouchers and collect money from parents prior to the trip.

You can use them over a 14 day period, but you still have to use the lunch one during lunch time and the dinner one during dinner time.
