Magic Kingdom photo session?

I think the Magic Carpets of Alladin would be a great ride shot. I love when you get up high and the rooftops and palm trees are in the shot.

I think this is what we decided to do actually! My DD still likes that ride. It doesnt feel as "babyish" as Dumbo though I would love that shot too. Does Alladin have FP? I can't remember and the line was never long enough for us to bother anyway.

Awesome! I want this to be my bday present when we go in August for my birthday and DD's 4th birthday. We are going with my mom and sis, I hate that DH won't be in the pics (He is in Iraq), but I still really want to do this and the price is about right! Plus I am afraid by the time we go in a year and DH is home it will either be gone or the price will have jumped (like the resort photo shoot once everyone started doing it).

How far in advance can you book it? Can I book now for August or is it like 90 days too? Can you give us the contact info?

Also one last thing.... Did she mention what other rides were "mild" enough since Dumbo doesn't have fast pass.... just trying to think of what FPs we could get ahead of time because I would love to have some ride shots..... of coarse Dumbo and Tea Cups are ride shots I have always wanted, but never turn out good, but they don't have fast pass.

I booked it last night for our Oct 2009 trip. Photopass is doing a resort photo shoot if that is what you are looking for. The price was better. I had the number for that too at one point. When you call you have to select the resort you want and then when you select one you leave a message.

We are going to do Alladin's capets I think. I am not sure but I would think the Tea Cups might be too "wild". They spin so much I am not sure how the staff would feel about a loose camera. She said the photographers are very careful. Worth asking though!

We did something like this in 2004. I think it was $300~ then. We met the photographer right after park opening and he led us to a number of different spots in the park. We didn't do any on ride photos, but he did take our picture in the rose garden (behind the fence), in front of the carousel, and all around the Magic Kingdom. The package included a leather bound photo album with gold trim that is very nice. He was very nice and very fast. I think we were only with him for around 90 minutes or less. The pictures came out really nice too, they are a lot better than photopass quality.

So is the area she called the rose garden an area blocked off to normal traffic? That was the impression I got.

Did they do any candids of your party or all posed? Would you call the pictures as good as a studio or pro wedding photography?

Yes, the rose garden is blocked off to normal traffic.

No candids, we did all posed shots. We left it up to the photographer to pick the places. The shots were in front of POTC, Carousel of Progress - for the date, Castle, at the sword in the stone, Riverboat, Haunted Mansion, Rose Garden, On the Trolley, Minnie's Gazebo, and a few others. I would definitely say they were as good as pro studio/wedding photography. Our photographer said that he had been with Disney for over 20 years.

Thanks for the contact info! I will call and book Monday!

No I just meant once everyone started booking the resort photo shoot it went from $25 to a lot more..... once it caught on and everyone was booking it the price went up. We did that last year..... I really want to do the Magic Kingdom this year. Thank you so much for sharing this with us! I can't wait.

I thought Tea Cups would be okay since that was one of the rides they were on in that video with the little girls bday..... but maybe that was the exception.

No Aladdin's carpets don't have fast pass, but hopefully the line isnt too bad

Can I get the contact info for this please? Also, did you have to pay for it up front or just pay a deposit? If so, how much? TIA!

I PMed you the contact info. I haven't paid anything so far. I was told that she didn't have the ability to take credit card info over the phone. She said as we got closer she would send put a credit card form for me to fill out and sign. I suppose I would pay in full then.

It was $110/hr for a min of 2 hours.
Or 2 hour shoot and a 6x6 softbound book of proof for $285.
Or 2 hour shoot and high res DVD of all pics taken for $375.
She then emailed the list of prices for mounted portraits and single prints.

I think I have PMed everyone who has asked for contact info. If I missed someone I apologize and just let me know.

we did the same thing for our honeymoon back in 2002...the photo album came out gorgeous...i think the cd is the best option now...

Im not sure if you still can do this but I know in the past you were able to hire a photographer to follow you around and it was a bit costly and not wedding nor grand gathering related. Check out Disneys website when I was planning our first trip in 2007 I am pretty sure that is where I saw it. With photopass being more popular they may have stopped this though.

Update: I did a quick search for it and can not find it now. So maybe with photopass it is gone. I also checked out that website and nothing. The best you can do is to call disney and find out about it.

Good luck.

Sorry I didnt read the whole thread ahead of time and I see you found the information. Guess they just don't advertise it any more on there site with photopass out now.

I have replied to everyone up to this point. Let me know if I missed anyone.

Yes thank you. It wasnt easy to find believe me. I actually had the help of a friend.

In the video with the family in the rose garden, Mickey and Minnie were there. Is one on one time with Mickey and Minnie included in the price?

I would think not. She didn't say and I didn't ask so I assume that is an extra charge. I am sure they could do it though.

I know you can hire a photographer through Disney to shadow you in the parks and take pics of your family on rides and such. From what I can understand it is $100 and hour with a 2 hour minimim. Has anyone done this? How did it all work? How do you get on rides with the photographer? Was it worth it and how much did the photos cost?

Any info on this would be great. Thanks!

Well there are people who do this kind of job. I would advice you to contact and make arrangements before settling on the issue. Dont spoil your trip with out a photo session..
