Magic Kingdom opening hours extended for selected dates in June

I think it needs to be said that those who book PPO ADRs are in no way trying to 'put one over' on Disney. Disney is fully aware. They are the ones who encourage advance planning.

Yes. But a cupcake at BOG, that is a whole different story.

I have a PPO ADR on the 16th that I will be canceling. We were going to use it so that my young kids could walk down an uncrowded street without feeling rushed, be able to soak the atmosphere, and get to Fasntasyland without being stressed. For this, I was willing to pay $14 for a child's oatmeal which we could eat much cheaper at the resort. In fact, knowing that we wanted PPO reservations a couple of days was one of the reasons that we decided on the dining plan vs paying out of pocket. (a decision that can't be undone less than 30 days out)

I'm a little disappointed in the news but not furious. Perhaps this explains why people might be disappointed in the news. I'll be canceling our reservation for the crazy expensive oatmeal and hope that not that many people will get there at 8.

I get your point, but as far as BOG goes, Disney could easily put an end to the cupcake issue if they charged a set fee for breakfast like they did during the BOG testing phase. I don't know why Disney sometimes chooses to look the other way; just another mystery I suppose.

Anyone know if bell services are available for luggage pickup (or drop off) at 7AM at a value resort?

MK opening is now 8AM for our resort switch day during a split stay.

Sure it's great for some, but it will not float your boat if you have booked a PPO ADR on one of these dates. These people will now have to cancel. ADRs like this are planned months in advance, and some people only have one day in the MK. This park is also super crowded in the summer months, and they often begin letting guests in the park 15 minutes early. If you decide to eat breakfast at 8am, you will be waiting in longer lines.
But I'm sure the thousands of people who don't have pre park ADRs are happy.

I'm sure that loophole will be closed in time.

Agreed, but I fully understand why those had planned PPO ADRs were not happy.
Yes, but I think these last minute changes are making it harder to plan for everyone. People will start (or really have already started) booking multiple ADRs that they don't intend to keep and then dropping them when park hours change.

I know that booking multiple ADRs is pretty common; some people just want a plan B, and others are greedy. However, Disney plays a roll in all of this; they don't care how many ADRs you gobble up, nor do they care about the consequences that changing the morning park hours may have on PPO ADRs even if it results in many cancellations. I don't know of a solution that would make everyone happy. I do think advanced planning at 180 days out, contributes to the problem, as well as coordinating FP+ with ADRs. If Disney is going to continue to encourage planning at this level, they should make every effort on their end to avoid unnecessary changes to park schedules because it has a domino effect.

Exactly! If they are going to have us planning 180 days out they need to have already planned the hours and events.

My BBB PPO appointment is now after opening. My CRT PPO is on a Morning Magic day, and my BOG is no longer PPO.

DD would be devastated if I cancelled her BBB appointment but the new opening time does mess with my plans in some ways but we can make it work. Now the rest of the group can go ride a few things while DH and I wait for the princess, so it is a win for my older boys, lol.

I can't cancel CRT. But we aren't in Fantasyland that day, so I don't think the morning magic thing will interfere with our plans too much at all.

I wasn't super thrilled about BOG breakfast prices anyway. We'll just make that a RD day and hopefully catch the opening show and cancel the ADR. We have a dinner planned for BOG also another day, so it doesn't break my heart to let this ADR go.

So yes, it messed with my plans and is frustrating to have to rethink everything a few days out but we'll still have a good time.

Oh, my New Year's resolution was to try to be more positive in my thinking...I swear, I am trying!!!

I'm wondering about this as well. Checked the date that was effected for us and didn't see any breakfasts available before 8am. Considering I was able to snag early fastpasses fairly easily, I'm guessing they don't have ADRs that early?

No it seems not I think you are right.
