Heading back to WDW! We are really excited, family is joining us for the weekend and I know they will want to see DD at the Magic Kingdom. (5 maybe 6 adults and DD who is 3)

I don't put a ton of stock in crowd calendars, I also don't mind a bit of crowds. However what is better a Saturday or Sunday or half a dozen of one six of the other.

It's the first week in March, I'm leaning toward Saturday even if it's a Saturday it's our first full day and I think DD may be best suited for it this day.

Any opinions?

My opinion is exactly as you stated above. Crowd calendars don't mean anything, and to me it's six of one and half dozen of the other on a Sat vs. Sun. Weekends are always busier because more locals are there, and MK is the most crowded park. But I don't think it really makes a huge difference if you go Sat or Sun, just go whenever you want. We always start our trips at MK, doesn't matter what day of the week it is.

I think Sunday morning can be nice but crowds will build midday and it will be busy.

I'm a local & have the week day only APs. You couldn't pay me to go near any WDW park on a weekend. It's way too crowded and I don't have the type of patience needed anymore to do it. I've been going to WDW since the MK opened so I've been there tons. It's probably a toss up, but just go with the expectation that it's going to be crazy crowded (March-April) since it's a rolling spring break for everyone. Have fun!

Rightly or wrongly, I would avoid Saturday in the MK evening like the plague.

If you really have to go on the weekend, I would go Sunday but plan to be there at rope drop. If you can squeeze in some additional time on a weekday, I would do so. MK is the one park I would be careful not to short change.

We will be doing another full day there for sure, this is just the first of two, and it has to be Saturday or Sunday. Either way we will rope drop.

I'm thinking MK Saturday with rope drop, maybe head back to the hotel around 2/3. Epcot for dinner after a break and then MK again Tuesday.

We've done both. In our experience, Sunday was much less crowded at MK. Saturday was really busy - took us much longer to get anything done (even getting from place to place, navigating through the crowds).

If Saturday works better for you, I'm sure you'll be fine, especially with that many adults and only one child. But one piece of advice I would offer... make sure you schedule bathroom breaks before you really need them. On Saturday, we waited 10 minutes in line to go to the bathroom.

.

Lovely! I guess it may also depend on final hours and EMH which I am sure will not be announced in time to mkw ADRs.

I could do Sunday just as easy as Saturday.

So i just checked my last two trips, and we did MK on a Sunday on both of them, granted it was also our first full day on both of them.... Maybe Sunday is the way to go, this will be something i debate every day for the net 6 months.....

You know going in, that weekend days are going to be busy at MK. It's a given. I DID pay attention to one crowd calendar but weekends at MK are busy, no matter what. I think that most people driving/flying in will be there on Saturday, with Sunday slightly less.

Early entry and smart touring are more important than the day of the week. I hedge my bets and try to do both within the confines of my vacation. Early arrival on a Sunday will give you a bit more time to get in some rides than Saturday.

These restrictions would make me (and my youngest who would like every line to have a FP option) crazy. You're better than me to take them in stride!

I've read that on Sunday there's far less locals as they don't want to go right before a workday. I think that's true, Sunday doesn't seem too bad in our experience

Rope drop Saturday/Sunday morning has been a good experience for us. Many people travel on Saturday/Sunday. We have found MK to be less crowded then.

We had a different experience than others I guess. We found Saturday mornings to be very light and nice. It does get busier later in the day but the morning was much lighter than Sunday morning the two times we did weekends this year.

Sunday is the best day to go...its the day that most people and families are either checking into or out of WDW hotels...because of this, there are fewer people at the parks on Sunday....I only visit MK on a Sat when its my departure day...so I usually do MK in the morning, get in a few rides and then leave by mid-day so I can get back to the airport for my flight...and before the afternoon/evening crowds arrive...

This is what I've always assumed. We try to avoid MK on Saturdays and Mondays as it seems many people are either starting or ending their trips on these days. We usually arrive on Saturday and make MK our first full park day on Sunday. It has always worked out well for us!
