I just wanted to share this story. Maybe some of you know it...
There was a Disney duck that lived for several years in the planter in front of the Tomorrowland DVC booth. I know I have a photo somewhere of her, but can’t find it.
She would fly in low over people’s head and settle in the planter to lay on her eggs. You could see her cute little head raised above the bushes to watch out for children, etc. That was where she lived and raised her young, and the DVC CM’s were very protective of her.

It had been a while since I went to check on her, at least last fall/winter, however, I did last week. When I asked, the CM sadly informed me that she was killed right before the shutdown. A kid kicked her in the head. It happened when they weren’t watching. She was taken to the animal hospital, and the doctors worked on her for several days, but succumbed to a traumatic brain injury. Needless to say, the DVC CMs were devastated (as I).
At the time of her passing, she had eggs. Sometimes keepers will take the eggs and replace with them fake ones to keep the population down. In this case, they took her eggs and fertilized I believe 6 or 7 of them, so her offspring would survive. They were successfully released this year in the pond near the castle. This is how much Disney cares for their wildlife.
I saw this video on twitter, and it made me think about her. Perhaps it could be one of her babies.
The moral of this story is, please, parents, teach your children to respect the Disney wildlife. When you respect the wildlife, you respect the CMs who work hard to protect them.
