Magic Kingdom-Best ride to rope drop?

What is the best ride to rope drop in MK? We used to do Space Mt. Now we are considering Mine Train or Peter Pan instead. Will likely have multi-pass and a single-pass for TRON. Feels like just when I have my strategy figured out, Disney changes everything! Thinking of doing Tiana's for tier 1 LLMP, Winnie the Pooh and Pirates for tier 2 LLMP. Will try for a Space Mountain return after we use our first LL. Any other suggestions?! Or best to keep Space Mt as rope drop ? (1 in our party will not be riding space or Mine Train so this complicates the LL's too)

We’ve been doing Space lately and plan on it next trip. Some say it’s a waste of rope drop because it’s an easy LL to get later in the day. But we prefer not doing the craziness of 7DMT and Tron doesn’t open until after EE. We wouldn’t mind Peter Pan either but plan on doing that during EEH and we like to start with a bang.

Since you'll have MP I would RD what you may want to ride twice. I also enjoy RDing something everyone will ride so you don't have to get up and hurry for someone to stand around. MK has so many rides that there are a lot of good options, depending on your preferences. BTW, I chose those 3 as my 3 pre-booked and was able to get all the other rides throughout the day.

Pirates was much easier to get new/updated times throughout the day than Space Mountain was

I can't imagine everyone not riding the first ride together in the morning at RD, so I would go for Peter Pan since everyone will ride. I'd focus on things your entire party will ride (I'm assuming you have Early Entry). Maybe Peter Pan, then things like Pooh and Buzz.

When travelling with riders skipping some rides, my party opts to start out together in the morning, and our separating or waiting for each other kicks in later. OR - we don't even go to the park at the same time in the first place. No way I am headed to RD to waste my time as others ride Space Mountain. That is ALOT of time not to my advantage.

While it seems apparent from your post, just want to confirm that you will have access to and are referring to the the early entry RD, correct? If you are not eligible, obviously the answer is different. And if early entry is 7 or 8 AM, will you be at or near the front of the EE crowd, or will you be more in the middle of the pack. &DMT may not be worth it unless you are at the front. SM is better these days. PP can get a little backed up if you are not in the front, but should still not have an issue getting on and off. You will also be closer to the second RD into Frontierland/Adventureland by Haunted Mansion that way, so you can be in front of the crowd for that RD as well. You could probably do SM, PP and then be at the front of the RD by HM before it opens if you are not too far back in the EE RD. We have done 7DMT, PP and then been at the front of HM this way if we are early enough.

We were at Magic Kingdom last week, and we planned to rope drop Space Mountain. Most of the crowd for EE went to Tron & 7DMT. Space wasn't open right at early entry, so we went straight to Buzz Lightyear and rode it instead. Then when we exited, Space was up, and we waited maybe 5 minutes. We then walked to the 2nd rope drop for Adventureland by the Rapunzel bathrooms and rode Jungle Cruise. Then there was no line for magic carpets of Aladdin, so we went on that next. We had accomplished all of this by 9:35 AM. You could follow a similar strategy and go for Peter Pan first.

My daughter who just graduated from college wanted to do a trip with the challenge to ride every ride and go to every show in all 4 parks. We did it! I plan to write a trip report when I recover. It was fun and exhausting.

Either Peter Pan or 7DMT.

Space Mountain seems to have a lot of availability on LLMP (even more so than Jungle Cruise).

I love rope dropping Peter Pan instead of getting a LL for it because you get to walk through the Darling house/queue. It's a good mix of helping you save time and being efficient, but avoiding the craziness of 7DMT and Tron.

Personally, battling crowds for the most high demand ride usually negatively affects my enjoyment of the ride. My first time on FOP was at rope drop, and I thought it was disappointing. I rode it on a later trip with FP+ and loved it. Same with Slinky Dog.

What would you rope drop during early entry with a 1, 3 and 5 year old. The 3 year old is 40 inches (possibly 42 with shoes on) and the 5 year old is hoping she is 44 inches with shoes on. We will have multi pass and plan to book Space Mountain (assuming the 5 year old is tall enough) even though not everyone can ride it. My husband doesn't mind waiting with the 1 year old while I take the other 2 on a ride and we are Disneyland Magic Key holders and don't care about Peter Pan even at Disneyland. We usually rope drop Dumbo, head to Alice and then ride Storybook Boats at Disneyland.

I think 7DMT would be first choice to rope drop…
Maybe Tomorrowland Speedway second cause it will get to be a long hot wait in sun if family wants that attraction. But Autopia is better at DL.

I know Jungle Cruise is very popular too. And a different experience ( better at MK ) …
Winnie the Pooh is considered better at MK

I'm seeing conflicting information about Tron. Is it open for Early Entry or not?

Tron is not listed as an EE attraction but many many not so smart people will head there at EE and spend literally their entire EE time lined up there so as to be front of line for park open. Needless to say it’s dumb and inadvisable, as unlike showing up early to the tapstiles for EE to start, there IS an opportunity cost to doing that because you’re wasting valuable time when the park is open and heavy hitters have low waits (Mine Train, Pan and Space).

Once in a very blue moon it does work to their advantage bc in some very usual circumstances they MAY open Tron for EE (I rode it once during EE when Space was on a delayed opening) but 99% of the time it’s an absolute waste of EE time for a ride that drops to 20 min at park close. It’s textbook lemming behavior but hey it keeps lines moving elsewhere. 😂

Fair enough, but..how reliable is it that it will drop to 20 minutes? If one isn't inclined to purchase LL for Tron (since it is a stand-alone), could that in fact be a good strategy? Of course, the same is true for 7 Dwarfs Mine Train, but Pan and Space are in fact available with a LL Multi-pass. So, for those that don't want to pay but also don't want to wait 85 minutes, could that in fact be smart? The other question I would have is what the line is like during the Extended Magic Hours available to Deluxe resort guests.

It really depends on what you like. We have done rope drop for PP, 7DMT and Tron. Tron didn't open for 30 minutes, but we had a short wait. 7DMT fills quickly, so if you are not near the front of the line, you will still have a 20-30 minute wait.
