I'll reserve my vote until I hear some points, but my initial reaction is that it seems kinda arbitrary for MK to be dry when the rest of the parks are not. Is alcohol a problem in the other parks? Is it a benefit in the other parks?

It wouldn't bother me, but I don't see a need for it. Of all the parks, this one is most focused on young children, so I don't think alcohol fits in as well as say, Epcot. Although I could see a set-up with Pirates. :goodvibes

I don't see why not. I'm not much of a drinker, but I don't care either way. Can't see it harming the kiddos unless it's being served TO them ;)

I enjoy an adult beverage at times, but I kind of like the fact that MK is dry. I just don't see the need for it there. :confused3 It's not like I'd freak out if they started selling it, but I think it's nice that they don't. The fantasy of MK seems more childlike; I don't see where alcohol would enhance that at all.

If all four parks were dry, I would say no. But since MK is the odd-man-out, I say why not? Maybe just keep the avaliability limited, something like just beer and wine at table service restaurants.

Let's see, you have pirates, a cruise through the jungle and a tavern, and you can't get a drink? ;)

I voted no, only because it's the tradition there and I'm used to it. It would be nice to have a glass of wine with dinner, though!

I'm not one of those people who think that alcohol is evil and that it would corrupt the park. It hasn't corrupted the other three.

I would like to see it served at the table service restaurants only. It would be nice to be able to have a glass of wine with dinner.

While I voted "no", I do agree that serving alcohol in the other parks doesn't seem to be a problem -and doubt it would cause immediate problems in MK. I've never seen anyone drunk and unruly in any WDW park.

It needs to stay alcohol free, that is the way walt wanted it. If people can't go without alcohol for a few hours or even a day, they have a problem. they can go over to the MK area resorts, they serve it. I will relate a story..
My sister and her family visited me and we went to Disneyland. Well my BIL likes alcohol a little too much so we had to leave the park in the middle of the day and go over to the DL hotel so he could get his alcohol. The guy has a problem and I am still po'ed about it.

I vote yes, simply because all the other parks and the hotels and DTD all serve alcohol. I don't think there's a problem with drunkeness at these places, at least I've never seen any. Taking a break in a shady spot with a cold beer on a hot day is relaxing IMO.

I say no, because it was Walt's wish that the Magic Kingdom would not serve alcohol, and I like to honor Walt's perspective.

That said, I do buy drinks in the other parks and if drinks were sold at the MK I would probably buy a drink there, too. But, it's OK with me that drinks are not sold at the MK.

Of course they should serve alcohol! I don't understand why they don't. Is alcohol innapropriate somehow for those of us over 21? I also don't see why some people don't feel drinking alcohol is appropriate around children unless they were being served (which of course they wouldn't). I don't like the 'implied morality' of keeping it dry.

Just my 2 cents!

I said no but thats only because I dont drink. The truth is, I dont really care. Other people drinking shouldnt have too much of an effect on me.

I don't want to see beer carts in the Magic Kingdom

I love a cold beer and I would not drink to access in any theme park but I know this is not the case with everyone.

Universal, Sea World and Busch Gardens all serve alcohol and in the case of SW and Busch Gardens you can even try free samples at thier hospitality centers. I have been to all these parks a number of times and only seen a handful of intoxicated adults.

With that said even a few intoxicated adults in the Magic Kingdom is way too many. You want to drink at a theme park? You have a ton of choices, want to go to a dry theme park? Seems you have one choice. Lets keep it that way.

Here here!:thumbsup2

I'd rather alcohol be served then people be allowed to smoke.

There’s no need for alcohol in the Magic Kingdom. There are dozens of locations throughout Walt Disney World where alcohol is available – restaurants, bars, carts, gift shops. The Magic Kingdom has been ‘dry’ for almost 36 years, and it’s thriving. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
