Magic Kingdom After Hours Coming Back!

I agree. The holiday parties are between $80 -$100 & the park is crowded. I would definitely pay the $150 if the park felt empty. I wouldn't pay extra if the park was just as crowded as it is during regular hours, which I think it would be if the price was less than $100. I would also like them to add something to eat other than ice cream & soda.

I was thinking the same thing. You could keep the price at $149 but give everyone a QS meal voucher. Keep Colombia Harbor House open and a few other spots.

It would have a cap, and last time the cap was about 10% of a party - but they never even came close to "selling" that.

Honestly I wouldn't waste any time eating. We grabbed a bite before the park closed and having treats was more than enough those hours. Maybe some special characters.

This is great in theory, especially if they keep it truly limited and not sell 20,000 tickets like they do for the Halloween or Christmas parties.

The cap they set for this in the spring was no where near a party number.

Yea, but at was at $149 per person. If they drop the price, they'll probably increase the number of tickets they sell. And then how long will it be til the place is as crowded as the parties are?

We don't know if that is true. They made a mistake on price point. A righted price point and limiting this to say once per week, could fill the numbers they want and for basically the cost of an EMH and some snacks pocket a very large chunk of change.

Other than some snacks they are providing NOTHING above rides for 3 hours. You can't compare to party tickets which include a very special parade 2x, special fireworks, special show (Halloween with top talent), dance parties, special decorations and lighting, way more CMs, special characters, all stores and most restaurants open for 5 hours.

But we also have no idea if Disney is happy with the profit margin at the lower price point. If they aren't, then I think we're likely to see it 1) heavily promoted and 2) open to larger numbers.

Wonder if it even covered the additional labor cost? For a full price ticket maybe you'd get three employees covered during the time?

Very good points! I am just expressing concern based on Disney's past record with hard ticket parties & special dessert parties: start out with a limited number which gets great word of mouth & reviews then increase sales til it's crowded. I hope Disney does find a price point that gives them an acceptable profit but still keeps the "exclusive" feel people are paying for. As I said, I would love to do this event & would pay the $150 for that empty park feel. $80 - 100 for hard ticket party crowds & regular park hour wait times: nope.

No, we don't know if any of this is true. We're all just speculating on a rumor!

Agree, I wouldn't be looking to eat a meal. Just other snack options: maybe popcorn, pretzels, coffee, pastries. Still things that can be quickly & easily dispensed & don't require a lot of cast members. Not everyone likes ice cream or soda. A special character or 2 would be great.

What is funny here is that there has been one poster on DIS who says they saw this. DIS then puts out an article with the post as the source. Others jump on it, again no other sources. What an awesome game of telephone ... one person says and now it's burning up the lines. The only thing that triggered maybe, if they did read something, is they said it included 2017 which would not make it an old announcement popping up.

We'll see. popcorn::

This opened with a CAP, just like the EMM events. They opened at same time. The cap is higher than those because of all the rides and not providing a meal. But it was not even a dent into the cap for a Party. If they stick with that cap plan, reduce price, and come closer to selling out .... even at only once per week you are talking double digit $ millions annual gross.

Have to market it, have to drop the price.

Excellent food for thought.

EMH does not cover additional labor cost. They even have stores and some food kiosks etc open. But heavily staffed. They lose money.

This would be less employees than an EMH, much is closed even some attractions, and they are collecting money.

I wonder if they will do this in early 2017? I am thinking that they might sell more tickets to it when the nights are a bit warmer than what they are during the first couple months of the year. Just a thought.

Amazing how Disney blogging works isn't it?

Very true!

And on flip side, with early months having shorter hours, this might be a way for guests to get some extra park time. :D

I really hope they bring this back. We did this in May (paid full price for 3 of us) and loved it. We'd do it every trip if they offered it. We went to enjoy the rides (zero waits) and to enjoy the feeling of not having to fight crowds walking through the parks. We took some awesome photos and stayed until the end.

The very low crowd level was the #1 thing for us. We go to the holiday parties (and enjoy them) but find that the crowds are too large. We go to those for the extra entertainment, decorations, etc... . If you're paying $149 just for limited access it really needs to be very limited.

A lot of the people we talked to had zero idea this was even offered. It was announced on fairly short notice and for a lot of 180 ADR/60 FP+ planners may not have been appealing as it required us to make changes to our plan. A number of people we talked to said their Travel Agent never mentioned it --- not surprising since it was a short-notice thing -- but I think the short notice thing meant that they didn't reach the audience they needed.

To a certain extent I think they relied too heavily on blogger reports (which are important but really only engage those actively searching out the info.) Also I think people are getting somewhat more skeptical about blogger info since I think most realize they are being comp-ed stuff and many bloggers won't bite the hand that gives them free stuff.

I'm sure they will either lower the price point or add something extra to make the hard ticket worth if like the holiday party tickets are... us FL guests have to pay for all the construction some how :)

I think characters would make it more worth it for us. I said that when they started it. I can't imagine paying that just for rides. What makes Disney special to us is characters and a chance to spend good quality time with them because it's not very crowded would be right up our alley. We are night owls and would be very interested, even at $150 if it included roaming characters and especially if it was more unique ones.

We're tentatively planning a May trip and maybe a cruise if my husband will be deploying again. If we do a cruise in May, this would be awesome for our family. Especially if it included characters or if they lowered the price point...

Agreed. I find it odd that Disney has not already offered a paid character M&G focused event (not a holiday party or character dine). The 2 or 3 hour lines rare characters have at MVMCP and MNSSHP should be a hint that there is a demand for it.

Bring out some of the really rare Characters, have the Princes with all their Princess. Yeah I think they would find a lot of folks would show up for that... even if the rides weren't running. To have them going and some special dining options with those Characters.... it wold sell. If they marketed it.
