Magic Kingdom advice

Hi all,

I've been lurking around for a while and this is my first post. My family (wife and 9-year old daughter) are heading to MK this March. We have tagged the following attractions to see. My first question is - can this be done in one day? If so, can you offer any strategies for us? Thank you in advance!!

Adventureland: Jungle Cruise, Pirates

Fantasyland: Barnstormer, Enchanted tales of Belle, Small World, Peter Pan, LIttle mermaid (maybe), Mickeys Philharmagic (maybe)

Frontierland: Big Thunder Mountain

Liberty Square: Haunted Mansion

Tomorrowland: Buzz Lightyear's Spin, Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, Carousel of Progress, Speedway (maybe), Space Mountain (maybe- I'm the only one that wants to go, the girls are chicken!!!

It can definitely be done especially with the use of the FP+ reservations to get three of those rides in. I'd suggest using the reservations on Peter Pan, Belle and either Space or Big Thunder and then waiting standby for the others. I'd also probably put Carousel of Progress at the bottom of the priority list because you're almost always able to get on it with little wait.

sounds reasonable as long you have your fast pass selections. I agree with the ones to use them on.

I'll put in a good word for Mickey's Philharmagic - lots of fun and you shouldn't have to wait long to get in.

If you have fastpasses for the big things in Fantasy land, maybe head right to tomorrow land first thing in the morning since you have a long list there.

You should be able to do all of this, especially if you get there right at rope drop. I would prioritize the following for your 3 FP+ selections:

Peter Pan
Enchanted Tales with Belle
Big Thunder Mountain (or Space Mountain if you decide to go)

If you hit there right at rope drop, you should be able to do your other Fantasyland list pretty quick (other than the 2 you would have FP+ for later), then make your way through the Tomorrowland list (prioritizing Speedway as you walk from Fantasyland and Buzz Lightyear).

You could definitely do that in 1 day! I'd get a FP+ for Peter Pan, Enchanted Tales, and Thunder Mountain.
Then I'd recommend getting to the park when it opens and head straight to Jungle Cruise (that ride gets long-ish waits later in the day!). Then Haunted Mansion, and Little Mermaid.

I agree with PPs that you can do this in one day if you use your FP+ correctly. I assume you plan to rope drop that day? If not I highly recommend it. RD and go to some of the main attractions that fill up first.

Another vote for Philharmagic!

Barnstormer may not be worth it if there is a really long line.

This is totally doable. But I do wonder if your little girl doesn't want to meet princesses too? If so, you need to factor that in to your plan. Also, can you do rope drop or not? I recommend people be very realistic about this. You don't want to come up with a plan that you won't be able to pull off. And you can get the above done without rope drop. Adding princesses, however, could cause problems unless you already knew it was needed.

DITTO! I'll also throw in that you need to be at RD ready to go--don't do breakfast inside the park as it will slow you down too much--even CS. March is spring break and crowds can be surprisingly thick.

Hey! Ok I'm not a super expert, but I think you will be fine.
Here's my idea for a strategy:
I tried to think of how you could go through the park without back-tracking EVERYWHERE (it's no fun to keep criss-crossing the park).

FP+ reservations:
Enchanted Tales with Belle - try making a FP+ reservation for the mid afternoon
Peter Pan - try to make a FP+ reservation for the afternoon around lunch
Big Thunder Mountain - try to make a FP+ reservation for the mid morning

Start off the day by going left to Adventureland and get in line for Jungle Cruise first.
Then continue through Adventureland and get in line for Pirates of the Caribbean.
Then move into Frontierland and use your first FP+ for Big Thunder Mountain.
Next, move to Liberty Square and get in line for The Haunted Mansion.
Then, make your way into "old" Fantasyland and use your second FP+ for Peter Pan.
Get lunch - For quick service, I like Pinocchio Village Haus (and you can get a seat where you can see into the It's a Small World loading area).
But, my top recommendation would be Be Our Guest Restaurant (quick service lunch) although there is normally a wait. You can make a lunch FP+ reservation that doesn't count as one of your 3 FP+ reservations at the link https://beourguestlunch.disney.go.com/

After lunch, get in line for It's a Small World, or Mickey's Philharmagic (Then do whichever one you didn't choose first next).
Then go into "new" Fantasyland and use you third FP+ for Enchanted Tale's with Belle.
Then, keep moving along in "new" Fantasyland to The Little Mermaid (this is an omnimover, so I don't think it will be a ridiculous standby wait).
Next, go to Storybook Circus and get in line for Barnstormer (it's a short ride though so if the wait is long and you would rather keep moving, I don't think it's a big deal)
Then, move into Tomorrowland! I like Tomorrowland best at NIGHT because of the lights and it just feels more futuristic, so I always like to travel counterclockwise around the park.
See how long the wait for the Speedway is and get in line if you think it is worth the wait.
Next, see how long the wait times are for Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin and Monster's In. Laugh Floor. Pick one and get in line, then do the other right after.
Get Dinner - A quick service place nearby would be Cosmic Ray's.
After dinner, you could try to get in line for Space Mountain and you Wife and Daughter could do a character meet and greet with the Princesses or something.
Next, get in line for the Carousel of Progress.
Don't forget to watch Wishes at night too!!! Don't miss it!

That is how I would try to make my plan...hope this helps a little.

Have fun, and YES you can easily do this with a 9 year old.
My suggestion is to arrive at park opening. If you ar ein a disney hotel go to MK on a day with morning magic hours (early opening time for disney hotel guests). If not, get there at the opening time for rope drop. If you are in a disney hotel, immediately do your fast passes as it is under 60 days. If not, register for MDE on the website so you can use your FPs the moment you are in on your phone.

I would FP Belle, Peter Pan and Thunder Mountain. Then when you walk in, walk right to Space Mountain and do it at rope drop. When you get off, stay over in Tomorrow land and pound out Buzz and the speedway, because they will have lines within an hour of ropedrop. If you get there early enough, you will be fine.

I would walk over to fantasy land after speedway since the other rides in tommorowland are going to be short lines later in the day. I would do BArnstormer then Little MErmaid and set your first fastpass for Belle up at hour 3-4 (beween 3rd and 4th hour of park being open). You should be there close ot this time, if you can do the merry go round (its nice) and small world while you wait for Belle. Then after that, go meet Gaston by the fountain, he is totally worth the usual 10 minute wait. Have some food, then go hit Peter Pan on your next FP set for between hour 4-5. After this you can either go waif for Haunted Mansion or do Phil Harmagic (usually not too bad of a wait) and then do the mansion. Use your phone to check wait times.

After Haunted Mansion I would go use the last FP for Thunder Mountain at hour 6-7 and if you have time first, go walk through the treehouse and do the jungle cruise first. Again, the phone and wait times will help you. After Thunder mountain, wait for Pirates and then have some food or maybe a dolewhip as you walk back to the castle. Walk around the castle past the chrystal palace as the photogs there take great shots if its a nice day. Then walk on back to tommorland and do Monsters Inc and Carousel of Progress. Have some cheesy jokes ready for Monsters, you text them and may get lucky if they call your daughter's name.

By this time dinner is in your belly, watch a parade, have a snack, see some fireworks and maybe catch another ride or two. then head home after an exhausting but nice day.

March is a tough time. It can be colc, cool, nice or warm. Not too many super hot days, but you can get some darn cold mornings and evenings. Be careful about thunder mountain early if its cold. sometimes they delay the opening on cold mornings, which is why in March I would fastpass it later and do the tomorrow land stuff early. tell your wife and daughter that space mountain is a kiddie ride and they will be fine. Its a slow kids rollercoaster, but its in the dark. In teh light, its like the roller coasters at carnivals. Its not bad at all. In the dark its great fun, but nothing to be scared of. My five year old loved it. HEalth issues aside, no one should avoid it.
