Can you imagine what would happen to the business models of the Disneyland/Disney World park bloggers if Disney stopped offering Magic Keys?

They’ve definitely offered Magic Keys for sale this year. They offer after dark tickets to MKs before the general public. They offer special experiences and merchandise for MKs. There is an entire dining venue only for MKs. If they didn’t want to sell Keys any longer, they wouldn’t offer renewals at all. There is no reason to wait to stop offering them if they don’t want people to have Keys any longer. They continue to offer Keys because they know Keyholders bring revenue into the parks they wouldn’t otherwise be able to capture. The Keys aren’t going anywhere until it doesn’t make financial sense for Disney, and it doesn’t look like that will happen any time soon.

YUP. The only time I'd start to be worried about MKs being vanquished entirely is if they close Magic Key Terrace and start slowly taking away giveaways and exclusive MK merch. Then you can be suspicious. (And even then I'd just think they're changing the name of the program... again.)

I think people harp on that comment from a year or two back about passholders being "unfavorable" a bit too much and that's why they think it might go away. The truth is the context of the comment was that they wanted to pump up the attendance numbers for ticketholders, not do away with passholders entirely.

There is no guarantee that they will offer new passes for sale. The long term goal is to stop offering them all together.

I don’t think that’s true at all.

They opened up CM sign-ins for the entire two weeks Inspire is blocked out… if they’re not hitting attendance targets over Christmas without passholders, I don’t think they’re looking to get rid of them.
