Magic Key Program

Man I'm just ready to buy the pass... I don't want the expense and I hate that I'm spending $1400 for a ~7 day trip (and two of those days will be partial days) when I could go cheaper with multi-day tickets... but the "upcharge" to an annual pass that's good ANY day of the year is just too hard to pass up. I'm out of state (washington state) but still, a couple three day weekends down there over the next year would make it worthwhile!

I just want to be able to start reserving my days to lock down something!

Does anyone know if using the DISCOUNTS on the Dream key starts the clock? Buying keys tomorrow and having lunch with a friend at Downtown Disney. Might also do some shopping at the Disney owned stores. If I use my discount for 20% off, does that activate my pass? Trying to decide whether to park in the structure and just start the clock vs pay $10 to park at Simba. If using a discount will trigger activation, might as well save the $10.

i don’t think we’ll know the answer to this until tomorrow. Before if shopping they would scan the barcode on your AP so that would make sense for it to be active. Restaurants usually just want to see you have the card (or legacy they just want to see it in the app) and they’ll just apply the discount. For DTD restaurants they wouldn’t scan anything either but with keys being digital, who knows how it would appear on your mde. If you want discounts, probably best to activate it by parking at toy story/mickeys.

I don’t know how the stores will verify if your key is active. I think how they do that (or not) will let us know the answer. When reading about unactivated pass rules, it indicates pass privileges aren’t available until pass is activated. Terms from DL site:

Pass privileges will not be available until such Pass is activated via park entry or applicable entry into a pay-on-entry lot;

(I would think the store and dining discounts would be included as pass privilege, not available until pass is activated - but depends on how they confirm active. I wonder since they will be digital now, it will somehow indicate active?)

I could have sworn I read in the terms and conditions or FAQ that discounts aren't valid until the pass is activated.

They scan the pass for the discount, so I think that might not be active on an inactive pass.

Parking is only $10 at the Simba lot?

I was reading that if you scan for parking it activates yours pass but it does not activate for parking discount. What would be the parking discount?

The Believe Key gets 50% off parking. So that’s a parking discount. The Dream Key gets free parking, and using it activates the pass.

Parking is only $10 at the Simba lot?

$10 for the first hour.

Purchases of $20 or more in DTD can get your validated parking for an additional 3 hours past the first paid hour. (So total of 4 hours for $10 plus minimum $20 spend in DTD)

Dining at a table service DTD restaurant will get you validated parking for an additional five hours past the first hour of paid parking. (So total of 6 hours for $10 plus cost of meal)

Each additional hour is $14 charged in half hour increments.

Should we IMAGINE or ENCHANT ? We might be able to make the weekday work once in awhile, but the lure of the weekends a few times in the ENCHANT pass is appealing.

Does black tap count as a sit down?

Echoing @tlovesdis that it's a fast casual type place. The last time was when there was no indoor dining and I had no issue finding a table as they took over some of splitsvilles tables. But I had dinner there in 2019 and our group had no trouble finding a table.
