Magic Key Program

I read on facebook that only 1 gift card can be used. I have a stack of gift cards as that is how I normally pay for my APs. I was planning to take them to the ticket booth to use to buy the AP (or maybe buy a 1 day ticket and then upgrade it to the AP. Now I don't know what to do? I know there used to be a site to combine gift cards. Does anyone know if that is still available?
Yes, you can combine them on https://www.disneygiftcard.com/

I am VERY curious about this claim that you can't buy them at the ticket booths.

I expect that a LOT of folks have simply heard that August 25 is the day you can buy Magic Keys, and they're going to show up that morning (or Saturday morning) expecting to line up and buy them and then enter the park.

Think back to June 15 and how many people showed up just assuming you didn't need a reservation anymore...

I hope they are prepared for the confusion around this.

Yes, I just did that recently on the site mentioned above. Keep in mind that you can transfer balances from multiple cards to one card totaling up to $1000.

Especially since I was specifically told last week that I NEEDED to go to a ticket booth to upgrade my partially used ticket.
I think this the root of the confusion. What I've been reading is that upgrades and applying old tickets, as well as putting down larger down payments can all be done at the ticket booth. However, new Magic Key purchases need to be done online or in the app and won't be processed at the ticket booths. But there's so much conflicting information...don't think anyone will really know until we see what happens Wednesday!

Ok really dumb question here, if we are upgrading online during our trip do we scan in on the last day and then upgrade online? Or would they see it as your ticket is used up now? We are going for Christmas and I don’t want to risk not having a reservation 90 days out vs 120. And then if I wait until we go if I try and upgrade before I scan in on the last day I may not get a new reservation for that day …help! thank you

The reservation wording is confusing me…

Unlike the current reservation system there will be an option for both parks?

Yes, that is what I would plan on doing. Scan in to your last park on your last day and then upgrade. If you do it after you are in the park you should be good. Just be wary about park hopping though, because once you upgrade you may not be able to scan into the new park.

I think you will need to select that you want to park hop (which currently you either have a park hopper or a non hopper ticket) and from there you would select your starting park.
The Flex had you reserve either DL, DCA, or "both parks," so I'm guessing that same set of options will be there based on their verbiage, and then you'll have to pick a starting park if you select "both parks."

Yep, I assume this is the same as the Flex. If you plan to park hop that day it only counts as one reservation, but you'll select "both parks" and then pick which you want to start at. However, be aware that for whatever reason one park could "sell out" of reservations before the other, so "both parks" might not always be an option when reserving a park, that's why they have all three options to select from but they each only count as one reservation.

Also I assume the 1pm rule will be in effect too, after choosing starting park you can park hop after 1pm to keep crowds balanced during morning rush/rope drop. Sounds like the reservation calendar will work the same as current one they’re using.

If you buy on Aug 25th but don't use it until December is your start December or Aug 25th?

First use. So in this example December. BUT, if you have the top version, and you use the parking benefit that will also start the clock, even if you're just going to DTD, for example.
So if I wait do you think I will still get the special stuff for signing up first?

I think it's 66 days, so it depends on how long you want to wait...
I have one day left on my California Discount ticket that I am using in Sept and a party ticket. I am thinking I want to start the paying of it tomorrow but not activate it until later in the year. Do you think I could get discounts with it right away or it needs to be active?
