Even as a joke, the Park needs to maximize pleasure to get repeat patronage. Filling it to the gills with people who pay pennies on the dollar puts off the big-spending guests.
I will always refer to whatever annual park ticket they offer as an annual pass.
You're probably right. But when I looked at Key offerings, they were so similar to what we had that I had to think about what was different enough to help them control attendance. That would be the park reservations. The easiest way would be to have different availability charts for the different types of guests. But my devious mind built in a use parameter. You're right it will never happen, Disney IT would never get it to work.![]()
Ok, we had the same thought - and try saying "Enchant Key" out loud. Weird choices. It'll be AP forever and ever, whoever was on the focus group and selected "Magic Key" was something else! It sounds terrible when you say it out loud "Mah-gi-key" and takes effort to separate out "Mah-GIK-key"
Yeah, but if you take out the 'ag'...It'll be AP forever and ever, whoever was on the focus group and selected "Magic Key" was something else! It sounds terrible when you say it out loud "Mah-gi-key" and takes effort to separate out "Mah-GIK-key"
Took me a moment to get this. But an excellent observation!Yeah, but if you take out the 'ag'...
When you think about it, saying magi-key is just as silly as saying ay-pee all the time! We’re just used to how AP sounds!"Magi-key" also sounds Japanese for "Seriously? Air." (まじ 気) lol
M-i-c-k-e-y!!Took me a moment to get this. But an excellent observation!
Ha ha! Magic Key - ag = M-i-c-k-e-y!Took me a moment to get this. But an excellent observation!
Is this going to affect daily attendance from now until August 25th when you can actually buy the Keys? Will people be postponing trips to use their parkhoppers to upgrade? Or will people be using up current tickets before the parks are filled with new Key holders?
Me and my daughter will be in the parks on August 9th & 10th, we aren't changing anything about our trip.... but wouldn't mind at all if others decided to not go.
Thank you for this research! So in effect, your single day ticket becomes the first usage day of your new Magic Key correct?I was able to finally get through on the Magical Key Holder line and the CM confirmed that yes, one can upgrade to an AP and still qualify for the monthly payment plan for California residents. Just a reminder though, that you cannot upgrade from the California three-day promotional ticket. For reference, we have single-day tickets and reservations for DL on 8/25/21. I was advised to head to the ticket booth first to upgrade, then enter the park. I’d just need to pay the difference, $179 is the required down payment.
Hope this helps others who may have been awaiting clarification.

One thing to note is that Magic Passes are not supposed to go on sale until 10am on 8/25 - not sure if that will be different at the ticket booths, but it's possible that they won't be selling them yet before you enter the park.I was able to finally get through on the Magical Key Holder line and the CM confirmed that yes, one can upgrade to an AP and still qualify for the monthly payment plan for California residents. Hmm, interesting. If I buy a two-day ticket (not the three-day CA one) for August 14 and 21, would I then be able to upgrade from those to a new Dream Key and merely pay the difference (about $1,200)?I was able to finally get through on the Magical Key Holder line and the CM confirmed that yes, one can upgrade to an AP and still qualify for the monthly payment plan for California residents.

No, because you'd have used the ticket before the Keys go on sale on the 25th. You could potentially buy a three-day ticket and upgrade it on the 25th, but then your Key Pass would be backdated to 8/14.Hmm, interesting. ...And you pay the difference between the value of your one day ticket and the $179 down payment at that time? Monthly payments start after that?Correct!![]()
