So we need passports and birth certificates for our little ones? We got our passports finally, but we haven't received the birth certificates back yet. But surely we have enough time to get those back.

Here's a question for all of you 'expert' cruisers...

We have the passport for 12dd, but I saw where we have to have gov't issued Id's also...what do you do for your kids outside of a passport for ID?

Passports ARE GOVT issued ID!! They are the gold standard as far as Homeland is concerned. Last time we went on the ship i didn't even bother with the DLs. Just flashed the passports at the gate and we were good to go.

Looks like we're going to go with a smaller company who likes our logo AS IS Customink was nice, but needed a whole new group name or family name, and its just too much of a headache to come up with something new on top of our Magic in Paradise already.

My sister found this printer for us. So as soon as I get ordering info for the design I'll post it.

I copied this copied right from the DCL website:
Bring These with You!

1. Your signed and completed Online Check-In Signature Form (Reprint Signature Form)
2. All other required (and optional) forms, signed and completed
3. Valid proof of citizenship for all members of your party, including children
4. Valid government-issued photo identification for all adults in your party

So basically, #3 is your passport. #4 can be your driver's license but your children only need a passport. I would REALLY like to know where the birth certificate for kids has been seen and brought up because I have not seen that anywhere other than here????

I knew passports were, but I had read on the DCL site where we needed 2 forms of Id...guess just passports are accepted...NICE! And I didn't see kids mentioned, so I wasn't sure...

Yeah, the 2 forms are just for those who choose not get the passports because of a closed loop cruise. SO in those cases a Birth Certificate and DL or State ID is what you need. If you have a passport then you don't need a 2nd ID. We did have the DLs of course and will again this time because of the driving(insert DUH here) but they went into the ship safe with our wallets and we didn't use em again until we disembarked.

Well, for us, we always carry our DL, especially renting a car. But when we did Rccl years ago, we had to have both so they could verify photos. Course it was after 911 so maybe it was just being extra careful, and everyone in our party has their DL except 'little bit' so...I just thought I might be missing something!

and .....another funny, when we got home, after flashing that DL everytime we got off/on, I noticed that my DL had been expired for over a month!

NP Passports have been redesigned at least once since 9/11 with several security measures and while they can be counterfieted it is MUCH easier to fake a DL that a passport. Living in VA, i now have 1 of those "Secure DLs" That states are starting to do, but I could probably still have it faked if i knew where to go like i did in college
