:confused3Ok..can someone explain to us newbies, why this matters? Is there a big deal to being 'tendered'? And what does it matter besides maybe having to hire a taxi to go a little farther? Can you tell all us newbies about this?:goodvibes

Usually tendering is only mildly inconvenient, but at times it can be a real pain (poorly organized Carnival ship, very small tender boats, I think they only took 12-14 people at a time). It really depends on how efficient they are at moving people. Generally, they organize those who are booked on early excursions to be the first to tender in the morning. Of course if you book you own excursions, DCL doesn't know your plans and the timing of the tenders may not accommodate your schedule.

You can occasionally find yourself waiting for your turn to tender off the ship, or at the port waiting to get back to the ship. In all, it is just not as convenient as walking off and back on whenever you want.

The other issue is that the tender may not deliver you where you would have been if you were docked and yes you may have to arrange other transportation or walk a little further.

Have any of you veterans done the St. John Island Tour? DH and I were thinking of doing that excursion and wanted opinions. Thanks!!

Just got back from one of our favorite local restaurants where the owner and staff have "adopted" DS. We had to get a to go box and our server drew this on the take out box...:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Wow!Thanks...had no idea! That makes a lot of sense! And we don't have any 'set' plans for St Thomas, so for us, I guess it'd be fine. But man, that'd be tough I guess for alot of folks who have already booked excursions through outside excursions wouldn't it? Wonder when they'll let us know? Or do they let you know?:confused3

Good Morning

I haven't been on for awhile but now that my life has calmed down I plan on joining the thread often:banana:

In case there is anyone who wants to buy jewelry in St Thomas, I recommend Ballerinas! We have bought alot of things there over the years.

The trick is how to pack as lightly as possible and still have everything you need. Storage space in the cabins is always a challenge with lots of luggage. We put our luggage under the bed after we unpack and we cram the closet and the trunk full of stuff :rotfl: I have to take a look at my pack list and see what items I can pull out. Last trip I totally overpacked!

Question for all you veterans (2 cruises under my belt, a veteran I am not). How fancy does formal night get? Are we talking nice dress as in one you can wear to an afternoon wedding, well accessorized or fancy gown here. I'm hoping its a nice dress and not a ball gown. I honestly probably can't fit in my fancy gowns. Somehow the older I get, the harder those lbs fight to stay on

We've done the gowns and tux route before but this cruise will be shirt and tie for Darrell and black dress for me.

Haven't worn JC Penney's in years.

I am a Coldwater Creek and Loft person. Hoping to find something there. IF I'm lucky I can something in the outlets in DE in 2 weeks. If not, I may resort to internet sales. We shall see.

Love Coldwater Creeks travel wear - I have a dark blue dress that will probably be my Palo dinner outfit. All my capris are from there too. I need to make a trip to the outlet in St Augustine soon.

Woop! Woop!:banana::banana::banana: eight weeks just cant wait

We seen a holland america cruise ship from the fourth road bridge yesterday when we were travelling back from Edinburgh, my hubbie got a fright when i got excited and shouted to the kids "look their is a cruise ship thats like the one we are visiting lets go down to the port and have a look"
I have always to remind myself that they dont know we are going on the oasis and the magic they think they are just getting to visit for a day.:woohoo::woohoo:
Just made me even more excited lol......

all this talk of what everyone is wearing, now we definately wont be going down the ball gown route either as i find it really difficult to put a dress on lol
Anyway can anybody tell me if it will be ok for my hubbie and kids just to wear a nice shirt and cravatt with a matching waistcoat to the formal night?
And will this also be ok for my hubbie to wear to palo for dinner, really dont want to bring a dinner jacket as her really dosnt like wearing them.:cool1:

My DH will probably be wearing the same thing for Palo and formal night. He's definitely not going to wear a tux. He's grumbling about having to bring a jacket.

Darrell always wears a tie and shirt for dinner at Palo - no jacket. And a button up short sleeve style shirt for brunch at Palo.

I wear the least restrictive outfits I can to either meal :rotfl2:

Last time we were at Palo, Jonathan wore dress shirt with jacket, no tie. I'm sure he's doing the same again. I'm going to be wearing a dress so I don't have anything tight around my tummy

We were wondering too since we've never done this whole tendering thing before. We booked an outside excursion. Hopefully, it all works out. We have main dining too, so would want to get back on the ship with enough time to have a little R&R and get cleaned up for dinner.

I've dreaming about this view.....it can't come fast enough. Work has been relentless.

Palo dinner requires a least a tie or jacket. So you do not have bring a jacket but he does have to wear a tie. (Get him a mickey mouse tie, I have one :lmao:)
