Magic In Paradise: 10/8-10/15 2011. All cruisers check in here. (#2)

Good morning all!

Just updating. We are having lots of flooding in Pennsylvania. So much that many non-essential state workers under the Governor's jurisdiction (including myself) have not had work today. Some people have been evacuated out of their homes. Fortunately, my neighborhood is on a terrace (terrace road haha) but the creek is just starting to reach our neighbors across the street. Please pray the rain ends here and goes to those that need it more (Texas).

I will post pictures when I can. For now, you can see photos posted on www.pennlive.com .

Everyone stay safe.

:sad2: So sad! Reminds me of the Opryland Hotel and Opry Mills about 2 years ago. And all the homes who were affected during the flooding... Devastating for folks who lose everything and have to leave their homes. Hope the rain and flooding stops soon!

That looks like my car in that parking lot/lake :scared1::scared1: Stay dry everyone. Northern Delaware was spared last night. Looking at the major highways in Philly this morning was unreal. Rivers of water and mud. :scared1:

I just finished looking at all 68 pictures posted on Channel 6(God I miss Dave Roberts). That is absolutely unreal. I've never seen anything like that there at all. There wasn't much of the city that got away from it. Even Darby Creek overflowed. Hell I used to walk over a bridge to it all the time:sad2:

So I can probably get more information from you all then I can from my kids in PA. Haven't heard a thing from them about any rain or flooding. So I assume that means they are safe and away from the floods, but I would like to know exactly where these pictures are from that I keep seeing? Any where near State College? And you mentioned that Philly was bad this morning? :confused3

I saw on Cinderelly's link that fans going to the Penn State football game are being asked to "find alternate routes" I'd LOVE to know where they are going to find an alternate route:rotfl:

For pics from Philly and surrounding areas you can check here:

This reminds me of a question I've been meaning to ask you. How is that you live in CO and yet have 2 kids going to college in PA:confused:

Oh ya, they have the big Alabama game this weekend!!! So is it 322 that they are asking people to reroute from? Any idea? My DD21 should be at UV tonight, have games Fri and Sun there. Hope they made it out, I know they always go down 322 when they travel. DS19 is at Rutgers on Sat. Would be nice to get something from them :confused3

Haha, just worked out that way. They are both on soccer scholarships at their respective schools. It ended up just being the best fit for each of them for their education and soccer. We are very lucky in that they are getting such great educations and having to pay very little for them!! :thumbsup2

You want your kids to go somewhere they will be happy, not just for soccer, but for their education and the whole college experience. They couldn't be happier with their choices!

The funny thing is, our DS17 just got letters from Princeton and Georgetown this week....he plays soccer as well! Not PA, but pretty close!

Yeah, that's always a plus:thumbsup2 I just trying to figure the odds of that happening:rotfl2:

Not sure how we got that lucky, but we are lovin it! Starting Sept 19 I will be out that way! I get to see 5 games in 6 days! I will be doin a lot of drivin . . . . assuming I can get around on those roads! Back and forth between Bucknell, Drexel, PSU, Drexel, PSU, and back to PHL! What we do for our kids, well, probably more for mom, as I love to watch them play! And it gives me an excuse just to be with them.

And it is a way for a week to fly by before our cruise!!! :woohoo:

Funny you should post this video...My hubby didn't understand a 'flash mob' after seeing that WAY overplayed AT&T commercial where the guy rips off his trench coat and breaks out into dance...you all know the commercial I am talking about :rotfl: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bd8ppk0UCx8
So I googled flash mob and this Sound of Music video came up! I would have loved to be there! So awesome!

So I'm trying to finish up my FE's...:rotfl2:procrastination is my middle name:rotfl2:...Does any one know (Mandy, are you around?) which people will be staying in what cabins for Mandy's family (scottishandproud)? I'm trying to divide up my gifts by cabin and want to be sure I get the right gifts to the right people :) Thanks!

Hi all. I just saw the movie Contagion. I liked it. A little spooky. One thing is for sure, I will never make fun of all the times they try to force those hand wipes on me on the ship.

 I just figured once we got there, we'd see where the FE was hanging..:confused3 But good question!!!

Headed out to 'cupidize' the inlaws house today for their 50th Anniversary today! Figure this is one of those, they'll either LOVE me or HATE me after this one!:rotfl:

4 WEEKS from today and we'll all be FLYIN'!!!!!!!!!!

:dance3::banana::yay::dance3:

Hey everyone. Been a rough several days. There has been several wildfires popping up all over here. The one in nearby town is still blazing and many of the firefighters who were fighting the fires lost their homes while fighting the fire. We know a couple of the families that live in town that lost everything. The community has been amazing in coming together. Pray for rain for us!

On a lighter note, I am working on FEs and noticed that our name is spelled incorrectly on the FE list and so is my email, so if any email was sent out on FEs, I didn't get them. I'll email Maureen the correct info so she can update it.

Really looking forward to this cruise.

Oh my! That is a shame. Guess they don't want you to worry. Most of us didn't have too much flooding. Harrisburg and Hershey got hit hard. I'm not sure about the other areas. I've been working on my FE gifts so I haven't been paying attention too the news except for my area. I will see what I can find out.

Oddly enough, I went to bed and our creek was flooded. I woke up this morning and it was back to normal. Is this real life? :confused3 I still have off but some of the schools are still in session. Hopefully, school boards made safe choices. There were some schools that were holding students hostage on Wednesday because they made a decision too late and the roads were dangerous. They said no buses would deliver kids home and parents were NOT allowed to pick up their child. :scared1: This was in elementary and high schools alike! Needless to say, this did not go over well with parents and eventually the schools took defeat and released the students. Somehow, I don't think those school board officials are going to stick around in office too much longer.

I'll have to take a look. Here is actually a site though that you can see what roads have what incidents there are or if flooding has occurred. The link is www.511pa.com . On the right side you'll click the "travel conditions" icon and then select "travel maps" when the next screen pops up. It will bring up a road map and you can select what you want to see on the map. I usually just check "incidents" to find which roads have accidents or are currently closed/flooded. A really nifty tool to use before traveling in PA! :thumbsup2 322 was closed at a couple of areas yesterday. Some still are today.

Listed in this article are some of the "alternative" routes.

The game is still on.

We want to see this one too. I usually wait a couple weeks before we go so the crowds aren't bad. This is the first movie in a while where there are lots of big names in it. Reminds me of the Airport movies and others in the 70's where the big name people made movies together all the time and it was great. Nowadays they all want too much money.:sad2:

I just put everything for both cabins in one bag if that was the way it was listed on the spreadsheet. I put the Disnames on the bags and didn't put any of the regular names since I figured that was the easiest way. Everyone will know it goes to everyone under that Disname from me. I hope that makes sense.:confused3

HURRAY FOR THE 20'S!!:woohoo::woohoo: I can't wait. It is crazy here at work for me. I did something to my neck a couple days ago and it still hurts to where I can hardly move my head. Working has been interesting anyway.:lmao: I need some relaxing and a nice massage.:worship:

I hope everyone makes it through the floods and fires OK.pixiedust:
