Magic in Northern Europe May 30 2015

We have 25 listed on the recipe/postcard exchange. What I need to know, is who is no longer on the cruise or no longer wants to participate. So if you know of anyone we should remove, please let me know.
Because we are getting to a number that may be difficult for some I am thinking of closing this group now and starting a second group. If you want to be in both groups, let me know.. That way we can close future group as it reaches 25, allowing for planning. But also welcomes all late comers. Thoughs on this idea?
Victoria Sharpe are you in cabin 2707?

Hi

We are happy to join both groups. :)

Hi,

Yes I am not booking Port Adventures through DVC. For St Petersburg I have booked through a tour agent not via DVC as well. The rest of the ports will be done independently and I have been reading up on Rick Steve's guidebook for this. We visited the ports on the Med cruise on our own as well a couple of years back. No problem.

Glad to know we aren't the only ones who are venturing independently :). We are going with a DCL tour for St. Petersberg because, honestly, they had the itinerary we wanted. We've been considering the "Free Walking Tour" in Helsinki (I think) but I'm curious if you (or anyone) has any suggestions for walking maps and podcasts/apps to do? We're very tech savvy and there are multiple ones out there but it doesn't seem that there are just a ton of synced maps and tours.

Ha ha, we are doing exactly the same thing. Taking a Disney St. Petersburg tour, and then seeing the other cities on our own. We love ABD, but we decided we don't want to be on that schedule every port day. I, too, have been reading up with Rick Steves as well as a lot of internet searches. "In Your Pocket" is pretty good for Tallinn. Tripadvisor is always good for restaurants. I'm going to make some lunch reservations in the various ports. Too bad the old apothecary and occupation museum are closed in Tallinn when we are there. Also search iTunes for "Tips for Travellers" for podcasts for our ports.

Put me in to one Postcard group. You might consider a long list, and then cut in half (or thirds) shortly before the cruise. I agree that more than 25 might be too much. :)

Hi,

The St Petersburg travel agency suggested that I bring my own quick bite from the ship, as we'll be rushing from the end of the tour to a ballet performance. Does anyone know if we are allowed to bring food from the ship to St Petersburg?

Updated the itinerary images, enhanced and a few corrections.

Thanks!

Janice - I'll add you to Group Two of the Postcard/Recipe Exchange. Do you have a cabin # assigned?

Hi everyone,

I see that Disney is selling St. Catherine's excursions for the May 30th sailing. But, from what I can read online, it is closed on Tuesdays, which is when we will be there. Does anyone have any information on this? Also, has anyone found a private company who is doing a tour that includes a doll painting class or a kid-friendly cooking class? We have a 4 and 6 year old. Thanks!

I read they are going to open St Catherine's for the DCL tours but it will be closed to the public. It is not unusual that tourist sites allow larger tours in on days it is closed to the public.

Hi Everyone

I saw this on another thread - Champagne Girls. Ladies would get together and do a champagne "tasting". They have said it's a fun activity for a sea day.

Thought it might be a fun thing to do. They dress in pink/wear pink feather boas, tiaras etc or not if it's not your thing.

Maybe the men could do a beer/whisky tasting so they don't feel left out.

If anyone is interested then let me know and we can arrange something.

Jenn
Hi! We have had Mixology on Disney cruises as a group of male / females. We would be interested in this - anyone else? It is run in a ship bar during afternoon 'off' hours and I think it was 4 or 5 different cocktails that we all took turns to make.

If there isn't a Meet & Greet yet I will organize one if there is interest. Also a special Mixology for our DisBoard group if there is interest. Please let me know!

I booking the doll painting through Anastasia, but TJ tours will do that as well. SPB I'm not as certain about, but the other two for sure.

We just booked this cruise for our family of 4 and we're so excited! We also booked a custom private tour for St Petersburg through TJ which includes the doll painting class. For all the other stops, we're going to do our own thing at our own pace. We have the Rick Steves book and have some good ideas for things to do (that'll be fun for us and the kids too, hopefully!), particularly in Stockholm.

To whoever asked about bringing food off the ship- I really hope we can! My son is 5 and you never know what (or if) he'll eat on any given day. I'd love to be able to bring along an uncrustable/pbj just in case! Though his favorite food is smoked salmon, so I'm thinking he'll do ok in Scandinavia!

Hi! We are interested! We would prefer a couples mixology / get together but will do Girls and Guys separately.

I have a very random request for anyone who is doing the transatlantic sailing B2B with this one. Could you possibly bring me some "trashy gossip" magazines, us weekly, in touch, ok!, star etc and I will reimburse you once I'm on the ship in copenhagen. They are so expensive for me to buy here in the UK and they are a guilty pleasure of mine to sit and read.

Thanks
Jenn

Love this graphic! My family and I are on the same itinerary on June 13. Would you be able to change the dates on this graphic to dates for our sailing and repost? I would be so grateful, as I would love to use it in my scrapbook.
