Magic Express

Well, if you go over to the transportation board you'll find lots of folks who say it works very well and lots more who say it's not so great. Take a look over there...

I used DME May 8 and 14 and loved it.

DME is a free service from WDW for its hotel guests. You get a free bus ride to your Disney resort from the airport, and your luggage is delivered separately; on the way back, you get a free ride back to the airport, and you may or may not have to bring your luggage on the bus in the cargo hold (depending on which airline you use).

You have to register in advance. Before your trip, you receive special luggage tags in the mail (sticky paper tags, like the ones that get put on your luggage handle at the airport). You check your bags at your home airport like usual, but when you arrive in Orlando you don't have to go to baggage claim. Your luggage will be pulled behind the scenes in Orlando (hence the need for the special luggage tags) and sent by truck to your resort. When you get off the airplane, you go to the DME Welcome Desk to register, and they tell you what bus line to get in. You get on the bus, get to your resort, and within a few hours your luggage gets delivered right to your room.

Again, I loved it!

Just got back and used ME for our June trip and loved it.

It went just like they said it would. We got to MCO at 11pm and were so tired we asked them to claim our bags for us and just deliver them in the morning. We had packed one of our carryons with the items we would need for one night anyway (just incase luggage was lost or an unforseen layover). I called Luggage services the next morning at 7am and they had the bags to our room in 20 minutes (stayed at Pop).

For our return trip, the papers were on the door the day before we left. They told us when to be at the bus stop, about three hours before our flight left. Dear husband did not think we would need the three hours :scared1: and so he called to find out how often the buses leave. It is about every 20-30 minutes. So he said we could wait for a later one. Well, after I threw a fit, we finally headed for the stop about 5 minutes before we were told to be there. After getting the luggage from the bell hop (at CBR) the bus we were told to be ready for had left. No problem says dear husband. About 20 minutes later, the next bus comes and we load up for that one. Get to MCO and then wait in line for security (DH wishes we had that extra 20 minutes now) Got the bags checked, then walked forever to the other side of the world to go thru the next round of security. Made it to the gate with 15 minutes to spare. Just too close for my taste.

But....if we had done it like they told us to, there would not have been a problem, but then I could not have told my husband, " I told you so  "

In my opinion, if you can use ME, do it. It is a great free service.
