We are not sure how many suitcases we will be checking (1 or 2). I didn't plan on knowing for sure until we actually pack them.

I know Disney sends you tags for suitcases ahead of time. We already have a reservation for ME. However, how do they know how many bags to watch our for? Do I need to tell them ahead of time how many bags we will have, or do they just grab the bags off of the luggage caroseul (or however they do it) and we hope they get all of the bags?

You put the yellow ME tags on every piece of checked luggage and they'll get all the tagged bags for you.

They send one DME tag per person and the bags with DME yellow tags don't go to the baggage carosel but are sorted "backstage".

If you need more DME tags simply call and request them. If you do end up with more bags than tags just stop at the DME desk and give them your airline luggage claim tags and a desription of the bag(s) without DME tags. DME will get them from the carosel and deliver them to the resort for you.

They ask you when getting in line for your bus how many pieces of luggage you have checked.

Just an FYI - They didn't ask us this time (May 19-27) or my Parents who went right after us (I asked them) at Magical Express in Orlando how many bags we checked. They always have in the past.

Not always - now that they have streamlined the procedure.

The past few trips I have been asked if all my bags are tagged with the yellow DME tags but not how many.

If you have untagged bags you need to stop at the DME desk and tell them. As I said prior - they will ask you for your bag claim check from the airline and a description of your bag. Putting a unique ribbon or strap on the bags without DME tags helps as well.

If you think you will need more than the one tag per bag, that they send to you, call them and request more. I hate having to depend on them getting untagged bags from baggage claim.

I agree. I would call and get the extras sent, and if you don't need them, no loss to anyone.

They used to send two for each person then went to one I call and get what I need sent other wise they DO NOT get to ME and delivered to your room or at bell service. you will have to go get them at the airport and then put them on ME your self.:worship:

This is not correct ~
Just to clarify - YES you can have DME deliver your checked the bags to your room even if you don't have the DME yellow luggage tags.

As mentioned prior in the thread; Just stop at the DME desk and give them your airline claim checks and a description of the bag(s) - DME does a great job of tracking them down and delivering them even without the DME tag.

Of course if you are nervous about doing this you can get your own bags from the carosel and bring them with you to DME. The driver will store them under the bus and retreive them for you at the resort. Leave the yellow tags off your bags (if you have them) if you want to claim them yourself.

IMHO the luggage delivery feature is one of the best parts of DME.

I will also say that this is incorrect. IF you have an untagged checked bag, and you don't want to deal with it at MCO, you can give your baggage claim receipt to the DME people, at the counter. They will ask for a description of the bag(s). Then, a CM will go to baggage claim and get the bag(s) and have them put on the DME luggage truck and sent to the appropriate resort.
