Hi--

We are moving to WDW area very soon, as soon as our house is complete (late August, early September). I was wondering if the Disney Magic goes away or lessens once you are right there and can go almost any time? We went to the area last week for a house inspection and for DH to check out 4 hospitals and interview (he is a nurse). When we went by the house Monday afternoon, I was not that impressed and thought it was just so-so. When we went back at 10 PM, the time of the Wishes fireworks, I totally loved the house and you can see the MK fireworks really good! My DH says I am just like a kid but seeing the fireworks from my house made all the difference. The house is off SR 535 in Summerport Community, Windermere address.

Will I tire of WDW? When we get FL passes, which ones should we get---the "seasonal,", regular AP, premium AP? What type of FL resident proof do you need to get FL resident passes? TIA.

Lisa

It will be 2 years in September that we have been down here and so far we still have the magic. It is a little different, you are able to go to a park for a few hours and really take it slow and enjoy it. There are times that we will drive down for an evening during the week, just to be there for a few hours. When we first moved down we did go every weekend, then you learn when the crowds are lower and how to handle the heat. We have learned during the summer to go in the evening, when it is a bit cooler. We made the mistake yesterday of going to Epcot in the early afternoon and I thought medics were going to have to come help me. I can usually handle the heat but yesterday was very hot and I had a hard time breathing and felt ill. So you learn things here and there. I hope the magic never wears off. My only regret is that I didn't find a place to live closer to WDW. We live about 45 minutes north. As far a proof of being a Florida resident, I think we had to take an electric bill with our name and address. Any utility bill will do. They even told us we could of used our lease. Good luck!!!

I grew up on the west coast with Disneyland - Back when they had the A-B-C-D-E tickets. My aunts (1 is retired now, but used to be an "Ink & Paint Girl") have worked for Disney forever, and we used to go all the time. Then we moved to the midwest, and Walt created Walt Disney World.

We went when we could, and the magic was even better!

Then, I got married and honeymooned at the Wilderness Lodge.

Now we live less than 3 hours away, I have 4 year old son, and black lab - Mickey Mouse, a yellow lab - Pooh Bear, and a cat - Tigger. We go as often as our schedule permits, and the magic is still, well what can I say, but magical.

(I have to admit, DH isn't as enamored as DS and me, but he is an awfully good sport!)

You will love it, I am sure!

PS - I do wish we were a little closer!!!!

Well, I for one am jealous! We're a 12 hour drive. We have close friends who are "only" 8 hours away....if we were that close I'd be dangerous. But to see the fireworks from my own house???? That's so cool.

I have lived about 15 minutes from Disneyland for the last two years and the magic is still there and as stong as ever. Last week, we went for the last time before summer blackout time and I was thinking about the joys of living so close. DD and I pop in for an few hours 1-3 times a week. We drop in to see our favorite shows or to ride a few rides. We can take an evening too see Fantasmic or hit the parks early for a spin on Dumbo. The best part, I decided, though, is the opportunity to see all of the small things. On our trips to WDW, we have to pick and choose the things we can see in a week. Living near DL, though, we can just stroll around watching street performers, sit in on Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, explore the play areas, etc. Now it looks like we may be moving before the blackout days end and I am realizing how much I will miss living so close to a Disney park. Enjoy your new home and a renewed sense of the magic.

We just moved about 45 min-1 hr north of WDW about 1 1/2 mo. ago! We got the FL resident 4 parks no restrictions AP's! Since we got them on 6/1 we've been 5X and are planning to go 3X next week! We also have AP's for Universal, and Sea World/Busch Gardens, but we love WDW the most! I hope the magic never wears off. So far, to us it just keeps getting better! Now to bw able to see the fireworks or WDW from our house.....Wow, that would be awesome! Unfortunately we're too far north for that. Guess we'll have to go there more often - as if we needed an excuse for that!

Thanks for the responses! I plan to get AP, FL resident for WDW for now. Later, I read they offered a buy 1 year, get one year free at Universal so we'll wait for a good special like that!

Ginger and Nancy---Do you live near Longwood or Deltona? My DH had a cousin who lived in Longwood but built a home in Deltona. We almost moved to Deltona but it just didn't work out. It would have been a lot cheaper but it is a bit further to WDW. We are going to try our best to avoid I $ when we can, if that's possible.

Lisa, did you and your DH choose to move to Orlando because of WDW?? Seeing WDW fireworks from your house is too cool!

DH and I were just sprinkled with pixie dust last year. We had been to WDW a few times (we both grew up in Florida), but didn't "get it" until we went last year to the Food & Wine Festival. We bought FL Seasonal Passes and plan to renew when they run out in October. We, too, wonder if the magic will eventiually fade, but so far we are more eager than ever to visit WDW.

NO! It never goes away!!! :cloud9: I lived in Daytona for 15 years and went every chance I could get! Been in IL for almost 4 years now and have been suffering horrible withdrawal!

And your house sounds wonderful!! Congratulations :)
