Hi everyone! :) We are currently booked for the 4 night Wonder, but are also looking at doing a 7 night on the Magic (assuming we enjoy our trip on the Wonder).

What are the pros/cons to the Eastern vs Western Itinerary? Would you say one is better than the other? Also, how does the Magic compare to the Wonder?

Thanks. :)

well we liked the western better, got visit one more port and it was 1 less day at sea... witch we liked better than the eastern
would recommend u book it on board to get the ship board credits.... peter

I've done both, and I loved the Western so much that we immediately booked another one (for which we leave on Fri!!!). Although I love sea days (which the Eastern has one more of), for me the Western ports are superior. Even though this is our second go-round, we still won't get to do everything we want to. Stingray City in Grand Cayman is an experience not to be missed, and between Xcaret, the Jeep Tour, and the other neat things to do in Cozumel, it's way too hard to choose. Key West is the neatest little place...we're not even doing anything planned there this time. We're just going to stroll around on our own. The Eastern was okay, but I didn't find the ports to be nearly as appealing. If we do another 7-day, it will definitely be the Western again.

We haven't gone on the 7 day yet (we go next year) but same as Peter, we picked the Western just because we didn't want to be at sea for 2 days in a row. We like to get off the boat and have a look around. So on the western, you get less days at sea and more ports to stop at. But really, that is the ONLY reason we picked the western over the eastern

i love the western ports, especially because of the water sports and snorkeling. However, I liked having three sea days on the eastern, and really felt relaxed by having three days of not worrying or hurrying to cram in a bunch of stuff while in port. Eastern, IMHO has the better shopping deals.

I'm glad you asked this! I just received a quote for each itinerary and am really having a hard time deciding which one to go on! I'm leaning toward western, but haven't totally given up on eastern yet. I will be keeping an eye on your post to see what others have to say!

We did the Eastern in 2001 and are doing it again this June 2003. We loved the sea days, and you get an extra one on the Eastern itinerary...we loved relaxing on the ship and watching the world go by, so we picked it again....

We did the Eastern Dec. 2001, the Western Dec. 2002 and are booking the Eastern for Dec. 2003. Stingray city is a real compelling reason to return to the western-it was an awesome experience, but I felt rushed with the extra port (did not care much for key west anyhow-not a child friendly environment and did not feel tropical to me) I love the two days at sea in a row to get to St. Maarten, that relaxes me so. Also I felt the Eastern seemed more tropical, the mountains and such at the ports are much more scenic too. The shopping on the Eastern far surpasses the western from trinkets, to liquor and jewelry. I would do Western again just for Grand Cayman-who knows that may be 2004.
