Has anyone else heard this? It was actually told to me by a Disney agent, but who knows? Supposedly they are moving the magic to the west coast (Seattle) for the 2006 Alaska season. In my opinion, that would be a very wise decision. ::yes::

I kind of doubt it since you can currently book a cruise on the magic for that time period.

I heard when they make a third ship it will go to Florida, and when they make the fourth ship it will then spend summers on the west coast and winters on the east.

Oh, but we can dream can't we.
And heck, it doesn't have to be 2006, I'd settle for 2007.
:teeth:

i'm not sure but this made sense. someone else said earlier that the Magic or Wonder were not built to withstand the water temp and icebergs for an Alaskan itinerary. this was discussed on another thread. i would love to go on an Alaskan cruise though!

I think that would be very intresting...it's something to think about....I've heard the Alaskan cruises are wonderful. Anyways...it I'd love to have the Magic closer to home. :D But I fear I would be one of those people who would dive down to the peir just to stair at it as it came in and out of port. .....ohhhh I could hear that horn every week :earseek:

Sounds like a very uniformed agent. Disney is currently booking both the Magic and Wonder for 2006. The Magic has a number of special trips booked with two days at Castaway Cay.

Don't think so since we're booked for back-to-back cruises in August 2006. HTH

I would love to see a special cruise in 2007! That is the year of our 25th anniversary and we haven't quite decided who to celebrate. A cruise to Alaska would be wonderful (if we were on the Disney cruise)!

I was recently sent a survey by DCL after my first Disney cruise. One of the questions asked how interested I would be in taking a cruise to...and Alaska and the Mediterranean were a few of the choices. So it sounds like Disney is definitely thinking about it...

Nope, espically since you can book summer 2006 on the magic already. Also I know people say the magic cant withstand icebergs and cold water. It could handle the cold water. Just because its cold the ship isnt going to crumble. lol Also they could have the magic sail up there if it gets a reinforced hull. Some cruise get them added somehow add dry dock.

We did the surveys as well, in June 2004, June 2003 and I seem to think we did one in June 2002 also.

Personally, I was a bit worried when they were only booking up to Dec. 2005 when we were on the last cruise. And then it seemed like FOREVER until they came out.

The hulls of the Wonder and Magic are the same as any of the ships that cruise to Alaska, no problem there.
The problem is they were designed as warm weather ships.....ships designed for Alaska cruising tend to have retractable roofs over the outdoor pools.
Although on the Amsterdam we had no problem using the outdoor uncovered heated pool while cruising by the glaciers. But most folks prefered the larger pool until the closed retractable roof.

Yea like tvguy said hulls are fine. Supposedly though alaska ships get some kind of added on minor reinforcing for safety sakes. Magic also I am told my friend at dcl would be modified to sail west coast with alaska when new shilp is built. We shall see.
