Just booked a cruise on the Magic and TA booked a deck 5 oceanview with one large window. There are a bunch of deck 2 rooms with a large window available for about $500 less (5 nights). Is deck 5 worth that expense? I've never been on a cruise before, so unsure. I know "worth it" is subjective, but hoping for some input from previous cruisers. Thanks!!

we love deck 2 - have been there on 3 of the boats. Never had an issue. $500 goes a long way to your on-board account.

We just got off the Magic last week. if you are traveling with children who will be making good use of the kids clubs or the nursery, I would recommend staying on deck 5 so you don't have to run them up the elevator every time you want to check them in. If you prefer a quieter room a little more removed from the hub-bub I would go with deck 2.

We had deck 2 aft aboard the Magic last year. It was very nice. I can't speak for what they would have on Deck 5 that would be a vast improvement. What we loved about our location was we were very near the MDRs, straight up the elevators from Cabanas and the soda fountains and one flight of stairs directly above where everyone gets on and off the ship at the ports. That was handy because while EVERYONE was waiting for the elevators, we walked up a flight of stairs and were home. LOL. It was also nice and quiet and the view was lovely being closer to the water.

We have stayed on both decks on the Wonder (same essential floor plan). Both are nice. I would save the money. In fact, booked deck 2 on the Magic for the transatlantic next year.

I've been on deck 2 of the Wonder and deck 6 of the Magic and for $500 less I would book the deck 2 room in a heartbeat. Actually, I'd book the deck 2 room the same price! We loved deck 2 and will definitely be sailing there again in the future. It was so convenient and being down close to the water was actually really cool. Highly recommended.

I am definitely for deck 5 rather than deck 2. The window in the room on deck 5 is great! With that said, my DW would want to pay the $500 but I think you can get by with the room on deck 2. If it were $250 more I would get the deck 5, but $100 more a day doesn't seem worth it to me. By the way, $500 more for how many people in the room?

The window on deck 2 is also great. It's a category 9A on deck 5. On deck 2, the category 9B (if that's what we're talking about) is the same size. The 9C windows are slightly smaller, but not so much that it's a huge difference. I saw the inside of a 9C when on board last (we stayed in a 9B) and it wasn't that different. We're talking inches.

For convenience purposes we have always liked decks 5 and 6. We never use the elevators so these floors offer a good access to the top deck and the mdrs and lounges.

Thanks everyone for your input. I went on and asked our TA to make the change to deck 2. I figured that $500 would pay for a nice excursion for the 4 of us :)
