Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - ***UPDATED - post #411 ***

The site is Wiki Based. Meaning anyone, given permission can edit, comment, add pictures or pages. There is no limit to the number of pages or comments we can have. Anything can be erased or added to at anytime. As Administrator of the Wiki page, I’ll be in charge of giving people permission to comment and edit the site. It will only be people involved with our cruise, unless any of you want any of your relatives to be able to participate. At any point we could restrict access to our site if we want to (our cruise group for example). To be able to comment or edit the site you need to sign up with your email address. This only comes to me. I’m not a marketer. I don’t collect email addresses for any monitary reason and I promise they will not go anywhere. I think it would be great fun to have group of us who edit and comment on the site. It certainly will help us get to know one another prior to our cruise. If you’d prefer not to comment or edit the site and rather I enter your information, I’d be glad to do it. PM me through the Dis.

I use one of these at work and I have one I use for my family. It works great in both cases.

Thanks for starting this! I'll add my family info, picture etc. in a week or so.

I was scanning old film negatives today, and it takes a while in between each one. So I had some time to research the ports I've never been to. Joann saw me doing this, and wanted to make sure I knew that the cruise was still 13 months away. Guess I'm in denial.

It is never to early to start research. What I find crazy is I have had this cruise booked for over a year already! YAHOO! 1/2 way there. LOL

I'm the same way.... It must come from living with all these girls! I see you have three as well... :)

And actually it's 1 year 3 weeks and 6 days. or... As I tell the girls when they ask if were there yet - It's just around the corner.

Sounds great. How was ABD South Africa? We've been thinking about doing one of those.

Jeff

ABD South Africa was amazing. I would highly recommend it! We spent a week in London first, got to Capetown a day or so in advance of the start of the tour. The kids loved it - said it was the best trip they have ever had. It is expensive, no changing that. But, we couldn't have done the same trip on our own. We went all over the Cape area, had private guides in several areas and had special entertainment or activities at many places. We also had a great group. Our guides were Tina and Craig. Tina has worked for Disney for several years, been a guide for many more than that. She's done several Italy trips. Craig is from South Africa and has been a guide there for many years. He knew everyone everywhere that we went. He also knew everything about South Africa, it was great. We only had 16 people plus our 2 guides on our trip. The safari at the end of the trip was the most amazing thing that I've ever done. We were able to see all of the Big 5 - many times - except for the leopard, we only saw one of them. But he was sitting maybe 50 yards away from us just hanging out right after he killed a warthog. I could go on and on - truly a great trip!

If you are on facebook, I have some pictures posted there.

Please tell me more about the Disney College Program. I am very interested to hear more about it.

http://disney.go.com/disneycareers/disneycollegeprogram/

The Disney College Program has options at both DL and WDW. It is an internship for college students. They get paid and live in apartments (pay rent) with other college program students. Katie is an engineering major, so working merchandising at WDW is not related to her major. But, she should receive some general education credit depending on the classes that she ends up taking while she is down there. Classes at Disney University are free to the college program students. They are accredited so can be transferred to many universities. Lots of students get credit from their university for just being in the program. You have to pay tuition to your university for that though. There are lots of areas for the students to work. When they apply, they give their preferred areas.
Let me know if you have other specific questions. She hasn't started yet, but we have been doing quite a bit of research in the meantime.

Thanks for the 411. Sounds like a great program. Daughter is only a freshman, but it is never too late to plan:thumbsup2

A rainy day at the Outer Banks. Still, better than a day at work. :goodvibes

Welcome aboard, IrishCowboy!

We are becoming such an active bunch. It is great to see our cruise's website (or wiki?). I am a novice when it comes to technology so I will get my information/picture posted as soon as my DH and I have a chance to work on it together. It is going to be a great way to get to know each other better over the next 13 months. The port information is very helpful. I am thinking potential shore excursions, beaches, sightseeing, shopping, and tropical adult beverages, as well as Santa and sand.

I am starting to get into the Christmas spirit Disney style: I saw Disney's The Christmas Carol, which was good. It was at the El Captain Theatre in Hollywood. It snowed in the movie theater. Disney always goes big. I also saw the amazing fireworks and Disneyland's Fantasy Christmas Parade. They sure put me in a holly jolly mood.

Today was a perfect SoCal day. As I drove around town doing my Turkey Day errands, I had my convertible top down while I listened to Christmas carols.

But first there is Thanksgiving. Tomorrow, we will wake up early and prepare Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless at a local church. It is time to give back to our community. I wish everybody a Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy the time with your families. Go UCLA!

We'll be in Las Vegas tomorrow night at this time. Heading for a weekend of soccer... The beautiful game!

I love Vegas! My sister is there this weekend. The shows are amazing. I loved Donny and Marie at the Flamingo Hilton. Donny rocked it on DWTS.

Where are you staying? Is it soccer 24/7 or are you going to catch a show or two?

Bet on Black and UCLA! I hope you have a great trip. Talk to you soon.

Happy Football Day!... um, I mean... Thanksgiving!
