Morning All!

Yesterday we learned that Orange County has some mighty fine looking firefighters.

Let that sink in for a sec.

Yep, picture if you will Lori and Rick at complex pool sunning themselves (ok, mybe you don't want to picture that so much) while turkey is sunning itself in oven (big no-no I know, but 4 hrs was a long time for Lori to not go outside and enjoy day). Rick perks up ears like a puppy and says "I hear sirens". Lori says "Nah". Sirens come closer and turn into the complex! Rick says "Let's see where they go" so we stand up and watch them pull around building toward our side. Ok, nervous nellie Lori is now a bit aprehensive- could something have gone terribly wrong with the sunning turkey?!? Rick and Lori scramble to collect stuff and run to car- and I mean run! We jump in the car and go tearing around the complex parking lots- we get to the last turn before ours and Rick says "tell me it's not in front of our building". No such luck. Right sqaure in front ouf our building sits the lovely firetruck! Lori has the door to car open and is running before car stops and feet hit the ground. I'm not sure I ran that fast when I ran track in high school. Got to apartment before anyone noticed me and checked..........

turkey was fine, still sunning itself in the oven. Whew!!!!

But why do we have firemen unloading hoses and hooking up to the hydrant?!?

I turned off the oven(one less thing to worry about!) grabbed a soda and went to sit with everyone else from our building in the parking lot to watch the spectacle. We even got more firetrucks! All told we got 4 trucks, a ladder truck, and 2 ambulances.

The drunk idiots in the hallway next door thought it was a good idea to fry their turkey indoors. Dumb**ses! Sometimes liquor is a bad thing- it makes naturally stupid people do incredibly stupid things!

But this will be a Thanksgiving that won't soon be forgotten, and the firemen were really nice to look at- and super friendly!

We ended up going to dinner with friends and then to Wilderness Lodge for some cocktails. I'll warm up the turkey and make all the sides today.

I have ordered my shirts for the CC5K now so I cant get in on the new design But I still love the old design and my DS13 did agree to wear it so im going with small blessings lol.

Angie dont be terrified we will have such fun. You know your not a big runner and you are doing it anyway be proud of yourself I am more than willing to go with the slowest person or even finish the run then come back and re-finish with whoever is last/struggling. You dont even have to run just practice walking for half hour or so an see how you do.

Michelle, Did you manage to get a list together of our BOTP team yet would love to see how many we have.

We live in a complex that backs up to Disney property. I can be at Downtown Disney in 5 minutes.

If anyone needs an Orlando address to ship to I can PM you ours. That way everyone can get everything they want/need in time for the cruise.

I was hoping someone who is familiar with the Orlando area could help me. After seeing some posts about the shuttle launch we are thinking of getting a place in Port Canaveral instead of by the airport.

We fly in around midnight on the 16th, so we would need a hotel for 2 nights. Are there shuttle services that can pick us up at MCO that late and take us to Port Canaveral, or would it be better just to stay the 1st night in a hotel by the airport and get a rental car or shuttle the next day???

Don't bother......the shuttle has been delayed until AT LEAST the end of December, but maybe even into February, according to the TV people. They keep us updated.

oh, I think that is so cool! We live in Hunter's Creek. So we are fellow central Floridians! Yes,I have had cruisers from overseas order shirts and had them delivered to my house to save on overseas shipping. worked out just fine.

Don't bother......the shuttle has been delayed until AT LEAST the end of December, but maybe even into February, according to the TV people. They keep us updated.

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER --

At NASA's Kennedy Space Center, space shuttle Discovery has been powered down for the weekend while analysis continues.

Discovery's launch is currently targeted for no earlier than Dec. 17, after shuttle managers determined more tests and analysis are needed.

NASA said Wednesday they needed more time to investigate repairs and engineering evaluations associated with cracks on two 21-foot-long, U-shaped aluminum brackets, called stringers, on the shuttle's external tank.

Managers decided the analysis and tests required to launch Discovery safely are not complete.

The work will continue through next week.

The next status review will be Thursday, Dec. 2.

If managers clear Discovery for launch on Dec. 17, the preferred time is about 8:52 p.m.

Movie was very good, but I was so afraid that the girls were going to freak that I didn't enjoy it as much as I probably otherwise would have. But I CAN'T WAIT for the next installment! That's going to be an awesome film!

On another note, I've become a Florida wimp! We went to Blizzard Beach on Wednesday. It was 84 degrees and I was freezing!!! My dh was laughing at me...

Arriving that late, it might be best to spend one night near the airport. As far as I can tell, Mears shuttles don't go to Port Canaveral and a Super Shuttle would cost around $130. Plus, you probably wouldn't arrive at your hotel until around 2-3 am. One-way car rentals are available thru Avis, Hertz or Budget. There is a Thrifty and Dollar location in Cape Canaveral, but they don't offer one-way rentals at that location.

However, I would be cautious about changing any travel plans. The shuttle is scheduled to launch no EARLIER than 12/17 and the launch window closes on 12/20, which means it can launch no LATER than 12/20-21.
