Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

But anticipation is half the fun!

Also, does anyone know when/how many group fitness classes they might have - yoga, aerobics, spinning, etc? I never bothered with workouts on the 3 and 7 night cruises, but with 11 nights, I will definitely need to burn some calories!
:santa:

I did yoga on the beach at CC once - that was cool! Have to be an early bird though...:scared1: The DDs want to do the Castaway Rays this time, so doubt I'll be able to do this again on this cruise.

The first day, of course, they do a tour of the gym and spa and you can win a door prize. The treadmills look well positioned to look over the bow of the ship. I know they have spinning classes, they are advertised in the Navigator, as well as stretching classes. I've been well intentioned in the past, but never actually made it to the gym. I did walk/jog deck 4 though, which you can do anytime.

Will have to be better at exercise this time though. Need to stay in shape!

I'm considering this. I'm trying to surprise my kids with the cruise and wanted to wait until December to tell them about it. I might tell my 14 year old daughter just so she can start posting. Hmm... decisions... :)

Great idea!

I don't think I could ever spring a surprise on my girls since I like to talk about the cruise so much. I think sometimes I get more excited then they do. Youngest DD is finally getting excited now that it is closer and she is going to join the teen thread today - whenever I can nail her down;).

Been going to the gym 6 days a week (starting last week) and am hoping to keep up the good work. Just walked/ran the Komen 5K in our town today and am tempted to try the 5K on CC, though the yoga sounds lovely. Took my first yoga class last week and heading back Wednesday. Fell asleep during the cool down :goodvibes

I work out at least 5 days a week. It is my "me" time. I am committed to stay healthy (not thin). I have RA, and I balance it with LOTS of medication, eating right, and working out.

On every cruise, I continue my workouts. I usually reduce it from 45/60 minutes to 30 minutes: 15 minutes treadmill and 15 minutes elliptical. If you need somebody to work out with, I will be happy to walk deck 4 with you. It might be a good idea to get a walking crew together. I enjoy variety in my workouts especially on vacation.

I also ALWAYS use the stairs. I do not use the handrails. I hold my core tight to get in a stomach workout too. Also, since I have RA, my immune system is a crisis, and it takes me forever to get over being sick. So no contact with handrails means less contact with germs. If anybody needs antibacterial wipes, come see me. We will have them stuffed in every bag, pocket, and purse. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Well, I am on a health kick. We got our flu shots at the drive-thru flu clinic. Crazy! Every year my DH and my DD complain about getting the shot. I tell them that it is to protect them from the flu, but especially me since I cannot afford to get sick. This year all I said is: "Let's get the flu shot so we don't get the flu on our cruise this Christmas because it would suck to get sick on the Magic." There was no complaining this year.:thumbsup2

Hope everybody is having a fabulous Sunday. Finally, my DH is working days. We will be a normal family again. He is not too excited because most crimes occur at night, and he so enjoys all that cops and robbers stuff.

Take care and talk to you soon.

Hello! My family and I recently booked our first Disney cruise! We are so excited and so ready - but have so many questions!

We want to participate in the FE, but I'm not sure if I signed up the right way. I sent a message to Tinkmischief (?) - is that all I need to do?

And how do we get on the roll call?

This is such an awesome thread! Thanks so much for doing this!!

Thanks!

Welcome Aly and Family!! :welcome:

The folks doing the organizing are doing a great job. They will get you added to the Roll Call and, with your PM, added to the FE list.

DH (BigAWL) is now awake - albeit reluctantly, so will remind him to add you.

Why is it so hard to get out of bed and get moving on a Monday morning????:confused3

We are on the second dining. We would love to join other disboard families at dinner. We would also love to have Lumineers for formal dining. We are a family of three. My son is 11. He would love to meet other children his age. Do we have a disboards started for 11 year olds? We are staying at the port the night before so we can see the ship in the morning. We will be staying at Country Inn and Suites.
I am counting down the days before we leave. I am so excited. I now need to get the FE gifts together and then I will begin packing during Thanksgiving break. I always have my family wear matching shirts when we get on the ship. I still need to figure out the shirts. I usually sew all of the shirts and then use my embroidering machine to make it extra special. I also have Pirate outfits for my family. So, as you can read I am really a big Disney fan and can hardly wait till we go on this cruise. My only wish is that Disney would upgrade my room. But, I guess I will be happy that I can sleep on the ship for 11 days.

I am also thinking of doing CC 5k my my older 2 ds. I think i read that kids can do it :confused3 They have been training and can runn it in 44 mins which i think is not bad. I love using the gym and looking out to sea while on the treadmill. The pools are not really for lengths. I also use the stairs when i can and walk after my meals.

Anybody else planning on ordering baskets from Shirley?

I need some ideas for basket contents. I figure it could have some Christmas themed items. I have a DS 13 & DS 10. Help me come up with some stuff for boys that are not into toys/coloring/sand toys, etc.

Do you know the Florida Resident Rates? I am just wondering how much they save. When the Wonder finally calls SoCal home, I hope DCL has a California Resident Rate for us. Thanks:-)

I did a search with Florida rates and the Cat. 9 looks like the price of a Cat. 12 regular rate. $5,118.00 for family of 4. Cat. 5 was $6,418.00 - which I think is less than the Cat. 11 regular rate.

It would be nice to be able to get those rates for other locations or DVC members wouldn't it? I do know that they are offering Canadian discounts when the Alaska cruises are going on, so it would seem logical that you could get CA discounts.

I think they did open up the Cat. 9 rooms for this discount. I only saw Veranda rooms when I looked last week.

Go figure, we waited so long to book the cruise that we were only able to get wait listed for early dinner seating. If anyone has early dining for 4 and is planning on changing to late, maybe we can make a change on the first day of the cruise. The wait list may open up, but I'd like to plan ahead. You guys have never seen my 4 year old pirate: when he doesn't get dinner on time!!

I just changed ours to second seating last week! We have a 4 & 6 Yr. old and thought the Dine and Play would be better. Our kids have such a hard time staying through dinner! I'm sure you will be able to get the earlier time - but you may want to check out the Dine and Play - the club comes to get your kids about 45 min. into the meal.

Welcome to the group!
