Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

After hemming, hawing, waiting, watching, wondering, debating, arguing, thinking, praying and pondering WE BOOKED THIS CRUISE TODAY.

Yes that's right Chris, Svetla, Sean (6), and Sam (4) will be spending Christmas on the Magic. Last night the FL resident rate came out for the Panama Canal cruise and failed to impress me. That combined with the fun group of posters here (versus the boring group on the PC thread:rolleyes1) we made the decision to join you.

We booked a CAT 9 GTY and are looking forward to having a great time. See you soon.

I have asked a friend of mine who works for DCL shoreside this question and she is going to ask the head of housekeeping on the Magic what she thinks the staff would prefer. I was told servers get the least amount of shore time, so gift cards would have to be for something close to the port, I would think. I'll let everyone know what she says when I talk to her later this week.

I am thinking a $20 bill and a thoughtful card would be appropriate. :santa:

Great to have you with us, cluka! I think you made a fabulous choice:thumbsup2. This thread is so active, I look forward to it every evening. Spending Christmas on the Magic should be such a great experience (we have not been on the Magic for a holiday before).

bigAWL- thanks for all of the pics, they get me totally excited.

I am really disappointed to hear that Brent may not be on the Magic this year. I have never been on the boat without him, so his voice is part of what I love about the cruise1

Kitster- I am anxious to hear what the staff prefer in the way of gifts. Thanks for getting that answer for us.

Have a great evening everyone!

Angie

Well finally! :yay:Welcome Aboard:cheer2:

We do have a pretty good group here!

Lisa - I also read the thread that talked about Brent getting a promotion and leaving the Magic but now there is another thread that says it's all a rumor. Somone on the WBTA talked to Brent(who is the CD for that cruise) and Brent said it was all a rumor and he will be on the Magic. I posted back for him to ask Brent if he would be on the Christmas cruise so we will see what he says. I hope so cause we love Brent.

Welcome aboard!

Panama canal sounds a bit dreary compared to the southern Caribbean anyway! Arrrgh!pirate:

PLEASE tell me that Brent will be the cruise director! I can't wait to know the final on that.

Anyone out there a Michigan Fan? GO BLUE! They are doing awesome thus far this season!:thumbsup2

Haven't heard back from anyone yet, but I will keep you posted. The funny thing is Yolande(his DW) was the one telling people that he was getting a promotion and would be going to work in Celebration to help with the roll out of the Fantasy. Guess we will have to wait and see.

Castaway Cay Cabanas
I am trying to find out if anyone would like to share a private cabana at Castaway Cay. We want to rent one of these but they only hold 6 people and we have 8 in our party. So we are considering renting 2 if we can get someone to share the second one with us. The rental includes: food, snacks, water, snorkel equipment, floats, sand toys, bike rental, and private showers. There may be some other things but this is all I know right now. If broken down it would cost about $84 per person. I would only need 4 more people. If anyone is interested let me know.

Dinner
I was wondering if anyone on late dinning would like to see if we can set it up so that we have the same rotation and are seated next to each other in the dinning room? We did this on a cruise several years ago and it was a lot of fun. I will let you know up front that I have requested the rotation that will put us in Luminere’s for formal nights. If anyone with late dinning wants to do this let me know.

Older Cruisers
Anyone have any 'older cruisers' who won't be doing any excursions? My mom is battling cancer so her and my dad will not be doing any excursions with us and I thought it might be nice if they had some other people to hang out with. My dad is a little shy(until you get a few beers in him;)) but my mom would talk to a wall if it would talk back.:chat: If you have anyone who might be staying on board let me know.

CONGRATULATIONS! Welcome! You're now on the roll call.

My sister and I are on late dining/second seating. We would like to be seated with other Dis'ers if possible, please. I've been worrying that we'd end up in a corner on our own or sat with others who don't like talking :scared1:

Hi Sarah - Never fear, if at all possible we won't let you and your sister sit alone! I've got a list started so let's see how many people join in with us. If no one else join us I will see if you guys can sit with us. We are a party of 8 so it's hard to add people to our group but we had 10 people on our Med cruise and we had one table.

Hi everyone!

:welcome: to our newcomers!

I thought that some of you might be interested in what I do here in Uganda. Working for the U.S. Embassy, my job is to build bridges between Ugandans and Americans through cultural, educational, and information exchange. Here is a link to our newest YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eulZjst-WG0

We're pretty proud of it, so forgive me for posting a work-related thing, but I thought that some of you might like to see it. :thumbsup2

I am thinking of cash folded into origami animals as a Christmas gift for the servers and hosts. It is cute, doesn't take up space for me or them, and useful no matter where they go. There are books that show you how to fold the bills into cute shapes. I'm sure I will need to practice for awhile!

We will be bringing my Mother-in-law (about 70?) and Aunt (about 80) and they are tons of fun. Will you and your older relatives be at any of the "meet and greets" the night before the cruise, or onboard?

Sounds like Brent is great! We have had Christian and Peter as past CDs and they were both very good. Christian was a bit silly, but in a fun way. He was the CD on the most recent DCL promotional DVD.
