Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

Has anyone else read Cruise Confidential by Brian Bruns? A friend recommended it and I was able to find a copy at our library. Not the best written book I have read but it certainly gives you a different perspective on the lives of the crew on board and it is pretty funny. I know I will have a much greater appreciation for the dining staff when we board the Magic. See you all in less than 6 weeks!!

Looks like an interesting read! It is available on Amazon.

By the way, my boss just told me he is going (for free) on a pre-MV cruise on the Dream! Apparently something just for travel agents and his son (a TA) invited him. I am so jealous!! But to be fair, this is the same boss who took our entire company (it's small, but still) with all our spouses and kids, on my first DCL cruise as a Christmas present! That was a nice present, and certainly got us hooked as DCL fans for life....
:cheer2:

What a nice story -- sounds like the perfect person to get a free preview cruise on the Dream

Just bought more suitcases!! :thumbsup2

Seriously... 300lbs of clothes for 11 days? That is 27 pounds of clothes per day.... :confused3

We also want to find some Mickey Christmas window clings to put on the stateroom door but have struck out so far at the local stores.

Our local Dollar Tree had SEVERAL different Disney themed clings (Mickey and Gang, Pooh and Gang, Cars, and Princesses) mixed in with the rest of the Christmas clings. You can't beat $1 per sheet! Hope that helps! :goodvibes

I have slipped on obsessively checking for availability on our cruise -- but just did. Cats 4, 8, 9 and 10 were available for 2 adults, 1 child.

We pack very heavy and bring several outfits per day, if you can believe it. The fun of the cruise is being able to wear those clothes I might not be able to pull off in "real life" - all the tropical stuff and pirate-inspired stuff and fancy dress stuff - it's the one place where any fun outfit looks appropriate... Bring on the high heels and mouse ears!
:earsboy:

You are spoiled because you don't have to fly to get to the port and you have a terrific DH.
;)

But it's not just clothes, it's: magnets and decorations, and FE gifts, and FE, and secret mickey gifts, and an ornament for the exchange, and costumes for extra magic....:lovestruc

I keep telling myself there are much worse things to be addicted to! (That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!)

Thanks for the tip. That certainly beats the eBay offer of $18 for a set of 3 sheets. Guess we will be off to make a run to the Dollar Tree tonight.

Basically their life consists of 14-18 hour shifts of nonstop chaos, 4-5 hours of partying and minimal sleep. The stories of inconsiderate guests, stealing breakfast orders and guarding tableware are pretty entertaining.

I read it a couple years ago - it was interesting. I still have it if anyone wants to read it :)

:scared1: wow $18 that's crazy. Glad I got some last year when everything went on clearance!

Has anyone been to ICE! at Gaylord Palms. We were looking at it today and they also have snow exhibition now. Any reviews? Is it popular/worth the money?

Colette

Also do we need euros in one of the ports? My mum seems to remember this being the case but cant remember where she read it.:confused3

Am still trying to find magnetic paper but doesnt seem very popular here in the UK:confused:
Fingers crossed though, I really want to get the mickey ears for the door:wizard:

After 9 months in combat boots and gear, I am so ready for cute, strappy heels! Looking forward to some spa treatments and girly dresses, too. I hope I remember how to apply make-up!!

We are getting euros - I read you need them for Guadaloupe, Martinique, and maybe the French side of St. Martin.

By the way, The DCL website says to leave your passport on the ship (unless I misread it) - how can you go to these "foreign" countries without your passport?
:confused3

If I remember right, in the past we just had to have our picture ID and room key.

I haven't decided if we are taking euros or not. I know I read somewhere that you will need them on one or two of the islands but then I read something different somewhere else. I checked with concierge and was told that the ship should have euros for exchange so I might wait until I get on board and see what I need to do. I know the exchange rate might not be as good, but I don't want to exchange money if I don't have too.

The ship will be cleared as a whole for each country so you will not need your passport to get into the country. All you will need to get back onto the ship is a photo ID and your KTTW card. We usually take a copy of our passport(main page with name and info) that I carry around as a just-in-case of emergency and put my originial passport in the safe until the end of the cruise. We even did this for all the ports on our Med cruise. The copy will not work as a photo ID so I take my DL.

I've seen it on ebay and also at HobbyCraft - but it was very expensive (£7 for 3 sheets!) We're going with magnetic tape on a roll from Hawkins Bazzar. I'm planning to laminate my Mickey Ears and then put magnetic strips on the back :)
