Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

Ok, as I am clearly unable to make door magnets, and DH (also Army) is busy moving for the second time since I've deployed (thank you very much, Uncle Sam!).....Is there anywhere that I can purchase them? I am particularly looking for the mickey ears over the door number, and a few cruise specific decorations. I have exhausted all known search engines to no avail.

Any ideas??

Why don't you pick ones you like from the DISigners here on the board and either email me the files or PM the link to the post they are on and I will print them out on magnets for you :goodvibes

RE: fe....I am fine with Liz's suggestion - if that's what we are going with I definitely want to hear from those wanting to be small fish ;). I have a count of 12 right now (can list them later when I am not in a hurry)

Melissa - that's so nice, I was going to post the same thing so let me know if I can help you out.

RE: FEs...If you are okay with it working this way and it's not too much work for you then I say let's do it. Like Liz said, this makes everyone happy. I will post again and make sure no one has any objections(don't think they will) and make sure they PM you if they want to be "small fish"

That is great your parents are going with you. DH was in the USAF too. He did 11 years active and at 16 now in the Reserves. I am sure he would like to chat with your Dad.

It seems like there are a few Military folks here on the board. I am trying to get DH to bring his Dress Blues for formal night, but he said he was on vacation. :confused3

He should bring his dress blues. DH is bringing his. They actually fit:goodvibes even though he retired in '89 after 24 years. I think several others have said they are bringing their dress uniforms too. DD (3princessmommy) "insisted" he bring his:rotfl:

Um, I am stuck in the middle. 12 is way too small as I already have enough made for almost 40, but was hoping to not have to make 20 more. I will have to change my vote to 'no split' if the split is not a true split unless the number gets close to 30. Sorry to be difficult.

Copied from Liz Arjay

For the split/no-split FE vote: Why don't we divide into 2 groups, but the folks who want no-split just go into both groups? That way they would give to everyone, and receive from everyone. The split groups would be slightly bigger than half - maybe 38 instead of 30, but at least it wouldn't be 60+. Then everyone would get what they want!

Above is a suggestion from Liz Arjay for our FE exchange. Melissa(tinkmischief) is okay with doing the list this way and I think it will make everyone happy. If everyone is okay with this, then we will suspend the voting and do our FE exchange this way.

I think to make it easier for Melissa(tinkmischief) - PM tinkmischief only if you want to be a "small fish"(on the split list).

Hi Caryn,

I think what Melissa means is that she has 12 people who want to split the FE list. We would split the total group of 63 cabins into two groups of 31 & 32. For those that want to split they would only be in one of the groups but those that do not want to split would be in both groups. At least, this is the way I understand it. I know it's confusing but hopefully this helps.

Alright, that sounds better than what I was thinking. I am knee deep in craft show organizing and my head is spinning. :surfweb::headache::sick::confused::confused3

I vote split, 30ish rooms is a pretty good size.

Only question I had was had it been decided if each room would delivery items everyday, or just a couple days thru the cruise.

Congratulations to everyone getting their room ressies!!!!
The laundry is definitely across from 2094 and 2096 - THOSE ARE OUR ROOMS!!!!!! Barring an at port upgrade to connecting verandahs (a long shot at this point) at least there will be a friendly face to cheer you when you are stuck at the laundry! :goodvibes

We had both of your rooms 4 years ago and enjoyed them. Big congrats if you booked two 12's! I was too chicken to risk it and just booked 1 room. We did get upgraded from a 6 to a 5. Our kids were still napping and going down early in 2094/96 so we did notice the people hanging in the halls doing laundry. Bring a sign for your door incase you need a snooze.

DITTO....(like I said way back on the first part of our thread in Sept)

Giant princess dresses and ebay clothes have arrived in the mail. Santa has come! The girls b-day is Nov 14, so after that I can start packing. There should be lots of new movies on the ship for us. popcorn::

I am happy with the 30ish split and would be in both groups that way. When are we finalising everything? I am so eager to get started on my FE's as soon as I have the numbers etc I can begin (after making a list about it of course) :rotfl:

:cool1:I love getting parcels!
I am beginnning my "mock"packing today. Read about a mock packing today and loved the idea!

Any idea what movies are onboard?

Oh my, what is mock packing? I want to do that!

I vote to split; I think you guys have figured out a way to make everyone happy!

I love all the talk about lists. :) Over the years I have converted my DH to become a list man. I now even have both kids writing lists, it is contagious at our house. But I couldn't live without them.

Right now we are using our packing lists to do a mock pack so we know what needs to go to FL with grandpa and grandma when they leave this weekend for the winter. Much easier than taking extra bags!

We too are getting excited and few conversations in our house some how come back to the crusie.:cool1:

This is where I got the mock packing from:thumbsup2

Will we know the sex/ages for each cabin on the list? I've made 30 somethings but will go on the "big list" if I can just not make 30 more somethings but the handmade things might be geared more toward a certain sex and/or age...is why I was wondering.

Sounds like the plans for the FE are really coming together!

Someone had a question earlier about whether we were going to have assigned days to do our deliveries. If possible could we please not have assigned days to do the FE's? I'm just thinking that all of us are going to find things we want to do with our families and if it happened to be that our assigned day was one where we had a lot of things planned, the FE could become a stress point and take some of the fun out of it.

On our cruise last Christmas our group did not have assigned days and we still got gifts over a nice consistently stretched out period of time. The only rule we made for FE's was not to deliver on the first or last night because people would be trying to unpack / pack. Personally, my FE is one of the first things that goes outside my cabin (LOL) so I am fine with getting stuff the first night, but I do agree that the last night might not be the best time to be getting things to pack at the last minute.

Just wanted to add my input on assigned days based on prior experience.

I also vote to split for FE - 30(ish) gifts is plenty for me figure out!

I need to figure out what mock packing is. Do you put placeholders for everything in your case, then switch out for the real item at last minute?
